Disclosed are a shield structural body, a connector assembly and connector structural body using the shield structural body, a casing assembly having the connector assembly, and an electric compressor having the casing assembly. The shield structural body is formed of an electrically conductive material and has a tube section, a ground electrode terminal formed electrically integrally with the tube section, claw sections integrally formed with the tube section, projected at least either radially outward or inward from the tube section, and engageable with a shield structural body holding member. The shield structural body can be produced at low cost, the connector assembly can provide high productivity and can be produced at low cost, the connector structural body is highly reliable, the casing assembly using the connector assembly is highly versatile, and the electric compressor having the casing assembly can easily cope with model changes.

An electromagnetic clutch for an automotive air conditioning system is disclosed. The electromagnetic clutch includes a rotor, an electromagnetic coil, and an armature plate. A hub is secured to a drive shaft and has a radially extending flange portion which is provided with a plurality of pairs of first projecting portions. A damper plate is disposed forwardly of the armature plate so as to be connected with the armature plate through a plurality of leaf springs and is provided with a plurality of second projecting portions and longitudinal holes on the axial end surface thereof. Each pair of the first projecting portions can be disposed within each pair of the second projecting portions with a gap therebetween that may accommodate one of a plurality of elastic members. A stopper plate is disposed on the axial end surface of the damper plate and may be radially moved within the range of the longitudinal holes which are provided therein. Therefore, torsional resonance, shock and vibration are eased by the principally compressive deformation of the elastic member which is enclosed within the space between the first and second projecting portions.

An electromagnetic spring-wound clutch for a refrigerant compressor includes a coil-wound spring disposed around a pulley and having one end connected to an armature plate and cover plate. The cover plate is connected to a hub which is fixed on the outer end of the drive shaft of the refrigerant compressor through an elastic member. The elastic member is closely fitted in a polygonal-shaped air gap defined between the cover plate and hub. As a result, the impact force generated when the coil-wound spring is wound around the pulley during transmission of rotating motion is absorbed by the elastic member instead of the hub and drive shaft of the refrigerant compressor to thereby increase the life and durability of both the electromagnetic clutch and the refrigerant compressor.

An electromagnetic clutch includes a first rotatable member of magnetic material having an axial end surface and a hollow portion in which an annular electromagnetic device is disposed in a stationary position. A second rotatable member, such as a drive shaft, is provided within the first rotatable member. A hub is secured on the second rotatable member and a magnetic armature plate is supported on and around the hub. The magnetic armature plate, which faces the axial end surface of the first rotatable member at a predetermined axial air gap, is capable of limited axial movement and is attracted to the first rotatable member when the electromagnetic device is energized to frictionally engage the first rotatable member. A high torque transfer electromagnetic clutch having a rotor which is rotated by an external driving power source through a belt, an armature plate attached to a drive shaft and an electromagnetic means for selectively attracting the armature plate into engagement with the rotor for transmitting the rotation of the driving power source to the drive shaft via respective frictional surfaces. In one embodiment of the invention, one frictional surface is machined to a rough surface with a plurality of uniformly formed peaks, each peak having an acute shape. The surface is then covered with a film layer of plating. The other frictional surface is finished by polishing. When the frictional surfaces engage, particles from the film layer are shaved off and accumulated in minute depression in the other frictional surface. Particles are also shaved from the other frictional surface and adhere to the film layer particles to form a material which exhibits a high resistance to the shear forces created by the rotating rotor. Accordingly, the level of torque transferred by the clutch is increased. In other embodiments of this invention, the peaks of the machined frictional surface are trapezoidal in shape, thus providing more contact surface upon engagement of the frictional surfaces and thereby increasing the amount of torque transferred. In a further embodiment of the invention, the film layer is formed from a powder material.

An electromagnetic clutch is disclosed. The electromagnetic clutch includes a pulley and an electromagnetic mechanism. A hub is secured on a drive shaft and has a radially extending flange portion. An armature plate is concentrically disposed on the hub and faces the axial end surface of the pulley with an axial air gap. A holder plate is fixed on an axial end surface of the armature plate and is formed with an axially extending flange which has a configuration including at least one straight line. The radial flange portion of the hub is also formed with a second axially extending flange at a radial outer end portion. The first and second axially extending flanges are formed of a similar configuration and face one another with a radial gap between them. An elastic member is disposed in an inner surface of the first axial flange portion to fill the radial gap and cover the axial end surface of the radial flange portion and the second axial flange. Therefore, the hub and the armature plate are connected by the elastic member, and the impact force generated, when the electromagnetic clutch is activated, is eased by the compressive deformation of the elastic member.

An electromagnetic clutch is disclosed which includes a pulley and an electromagnetic coil. A hub is secured to a drive shaft and has a radially extending flange portion which faces the pulley at a predetermined axial gap. An armature plate is disposed in the axial gap between the pulley and the radially extending flange portion of hub. The armature plate is elastically connected to the flange portion of the hub by a plurality of U-shaped spring members. Each spring member is provided with a pair of fittings and a pair of spaced, opposing axial flanges extending from the end portion of the fittings. An elastic member is located in the gap between the axial flanges. The impact force on the drive shaft when the electromagnetic clutch is first actuated is reduced by the compressive deformation of the elastic members. The impact sound is also reduced by the twist deformation of the elastic members.
