A current switch includes a blade-shaped movable contact that extends in a radial direction from a rotation center, and that reciprocates such that a free end of the movable contact draws a rotation locus, a fixed contact that includes a plurality of pairs of energizing contacts that come into and out of contact with the movable contact, a movable arcing contact that is provided on the movable contact, fixed arcing contacts that are provided on a pair of energizing contacts, and a pair of permanent magnets that are arranged within the pair of energizing contacts adjacent to the fixed arcing contacts.

Current switch

The invention provides a railway car with superior riding quality by improving the flexural rigidity of the car body structure while suppressing increase of body structure mass. A reinforcing plateis attached to a roof constructionon the side facing an inner side of the car body at a longitudinal center portion of a railway car body structurecomposed of a roof construction, a side construction, an underframeand an end construction. The range in which the reinforcing plateis adhered in the longitudinal direction of the railway car body structureis between two body bolsters, and the range in which the plateis adhered in the horizontal direction of the roof constructionis approximately half the length of the roof constructionin the horizontal direction. The thickness of the reinforcing plateis increased gradually as the height of the roof constructionin the vertical direction increases. According to this arrangement, the deformation of the roof constructionat the longitudinal center portion of the railway car body structure, which is excessive without the present arrangement, is suppressed, and the flexural rigidity of the railway car body structureis effectively improved. In other words, the bending vibration of the railway car body in the vertical direction can be suppressed, and a superior riding quality is provided.

Car body structure

The operation modes of plural intake valvesandprovided in one cylinder is independently changed according to the drive region of the internal combustion engine. In the low air amount region, the intake airflow is controlled only with intake valvewhich operates in the low air amount region and the other intake valveis operated in the medium and high air amount regions.

Variable valve type internal combustion engine and control method thereof

A paper-like sheet discriminator has reference rollers for detection of a thickness of a paper-like sheet and a detection roller opposing the reference rollers. The paper-like sheet is passed between the reference rollers and the detection rollers and its thickness is detected from a displacement of the lever. Wavelength components less than a specified wavelength are extracted from a signal indicative of a thickness of the paper-like sheet passing through the respective thickness detection sensors and appearance positions on the paper-like sheet are determined at which the extracted wavelength components being less than the specified wavelength and having amplitude either not less than or less than a constant value appear. The thus determined appearance positions are collated with precedently stored appearance positions so as to discriminate genuineness/spuriousness of the paper-like sheet.

Paper-like sheet discriminator

Satisfactory restartability has not been obtained so far because the timing of opening an exhaust valve of a cylinder under expansion stroke is adjusted for improvement of startability and a valve adjusting mechanism is always controlled in the same manner regardless of the engine status at start. In the invention, control is performed to adjust the timing of closing an intake valve so that an effective compression ratio of a cylinder under compression stroke reduces. Also, the effective compression ratio of the compression stroke cylinder is decided based on a piston position at engine restart. By varying the intake valve closing timing in the expansion stroke cylinder to reduce the effective compression ratio depending on the engine status at restart, it is possible to lessen a load imposed on a starter when the engine is restarted, and to improve startability without complicating the engine system.

Internal combustion engine control method

An approach position input device includes a plurality of antennas arranged in the form of a lattice. An oscillator applies a high-frequency ac voltage to the antennas. A signal processing circuit processes signals from the antennas. A change-over switch including switching elements sequentially changes over a connection between the antennas and the signal processing circuit. CPU sends a selection signal to the change-over switch for antenna selection. CPU calculates an approach position of a human body according to signals from the signal processing circuit. CPU instructs the change-over switch to apply the ac voltage from the oscillator only to the antenna selected according to the selection signal.

Approach position input device

A low cost and high accuracy replacing part identification system capable of detecting and excluding the dishonest use of an image forming apparatus containing a consumable. A memory storage device having a particular ID number stored therein is attached to a toner cartridge. If the toner cartridge is used, hysteresis data (data that cannot be re-written to its original value) is stored in the memory storage device and the ID number is stored in an ID storing unit to prevent the cartridge from being able to be used by other apparatuses. Since a control unit detects the number of time of use and a toner level detecting unit detects the data of a toner level in the toner cartridge to store as the hysteresis data in the memory storage device, a toner cartridge which imitation toner was refilled can be detected and prevented from being used.

Replacing part containing consumable part and image forming apparatus using replacing part

A carrier case for accommodating paper sheets, cards or the like having radio frequency data carriers attached thereto or watermarked therein. A device is provided for reading out information from the radio frequency data carriers while eliminating the need for externally removing the paper sheets, cards or the like having the radio frequency data carriers attached thereto or watermarked therein. The carrier case is provided therein with an opening for insertion of the data reading device, and is also provided with a movable divider plate. When it is desired to read out data from the radio frequency data carriers, the divider plate is tilted so that the data reading device can read out the data from the data carriers with a good sensitivity in a relationship contacted with the radio frequency data carriers or not contacted therewith.

A magnetic disk apparatus includes that a head positioning actuator assembly is retracted to a predetermined position for retraction at the time of stop of power supply from a power source, an electric power to be supplied to a driving circuit of the actuator assembly at the time of stop of power supply from the power source is supplied in three separate steps with time differences therebetween. First, an electric power for stopping the actuator assembly is supplied. With a second power supply using a small electric power, the actuator assembly starts a retracting operation at a sufficiently low speed so that it reaches the vicinity of a ramp. Thereafter, a third power supply is performed to accelerate the actuator assembly so that it is surely retracted to the predetermined position for retraction. Since the speed of impingement of the actuator assembly upon the ramp at this time can be set to a sufficiently low value, it is possible to reduce the damage of the ramp.

Retraction control method and magnetic disk apparatus

In an article delivery system, articles each having sorting information are handled, and the articles are arranged in proper delivery order through a plurality of arrangement paths so as to help the delivery of the articles. This system includes a sorting information procuring device for procuring the sorting information of each article, an article information storage device which is connected to the sorting information procuring device, and collects and stores the sorting information, a database for providing the order of arrangement of the sorting information, an information processing device for arranging the sorting information in the order, provided by the database, while including information for distinguishing the arrangement paths from each other, and delivery order forming device having a communication device for transmitting the sorting information arranged by the information processing device.

Article delivery system

A paper sorting apparatus includes first to fourth gap measuring units to measure gaps between sheets of paper. Using the gaps between the sheets varying between the respective gap measuring units, target gap correction values are stored for respective sort shelves. In accordance with gaps between sheets changed between the first and second gap measuring units, there are predicted gap variations possibly taking place by when the sheets reach the associated sort shelves. Depending on the predicted gap variations, a gap adjuster is controlled to set the gaps to appropriate values at a point where the pertinent sheets reach the associated sort shelves.

A positioning adaptive control method and positioning device which allow rapid positioning of a head by speed-controlling a seek operation in an information storage device such as a magnetic disk unit. The seek operation moves the head to a vicinity of a target track and a following operation causes the head to accurately follow a position on the target track when the head is positioned in the vicinity of the target track. These operations are controlled based on data recorded in sectors formed on a recording plane of a disk. A variable gain of an acceleration feed forward signal is controlled sequentially by an adaptive control rule so that a deviation signal between a target speed and an actual speed of the head is reduced when the speed of the head is shifted from an acceleration or constant speed state to a deceleration state under speed control. The variable gain of the acceleration feed forward is used per each sampling for the adaptive control rule and a square value of the speed deviation signal is minimized.

Positioning adaptive control method and positioning device as well as

A miniature magnetic disk device or a miniature optical disk device has a recording disk having a diameter less than or equal to 0.7 inches. The disk device also includes a spindle motor which rotates the recording disk, a read/write head for recording or reproducing information on and from the recording disk, a support member which holds the read/write head, and a support shaft which is coupled to the support member. A voice coil motor, which is coupled to the support member and the support shaft, sets the read/write head in a desired position over the disk. A resistor which has a value of at least 2.5.OMEGA. is connected in series with a coil of the voice coil motor, and the resistor makes it possible to reduce power consumption of the voice coil motor. The resistor may be a variable resistor, and a conductor of the coil may have a cross-sectional area less than 2.55.times.10.sup.-3 mm.sup.2. A ratio h/t of a thickness h of the coil to a thickness t of a magnetic circuit of the voice coil motor have be at least 0.25. Moreover, by mounting several of these disks on a board which is standardized as PCMCIA type 3, a miniature array disk device is formed.
