There is provided a flexible substrate having excellent flexibility and gas barrier properties. A flexible substrateaccording to the present invention includes: a base materialincluding an inorganic glassand resin layersand' placed on both sides of the inorganic glass; and an inorganic thin filmplaced on a side of one of the resin layers where the inorganic glass is not placed, wherein the inorganic thin filmis formed on at least a peripheral edge of one surface of the base material.

Flexible substrate

The present invention provides a transparent substrate that significantly prevents the progress of a crack in a thin-plate glass and the rupture of the glass, and is excellent in bending property and flexibility. A transparent substrate according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a thin-plate glass having a thickness of 10 &#x3bc;m to 100 &#x3bc;m; and a resin layer on at least one side of the thin-plate glass, wherein a shrinkage stress of the resin layer on the thin-plate glass is 5 MPa or more.

Transparent substrate

An input display device includes a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules that are homogeneously aligned in an absence of an electric field, a first polarizer disposed on a viewing side of the liquid crystal layer, a capacitive sensor disposed between the first polarizer and the liquid crystal layer, and an antistatic layer disposed between the first polarizer and the capacitive sensor, the antistatic layer being attached to the first polarizer. The capacitive sensor has a transparent substrate, a transparent electrode pattern formed on the transparent substrate, and a first adhesive layer formed on the transparent substrate to embed the transparent electrode pattern, and the antistatic layer has a surface resistance value of 1.0&#xd7;10to 1.0&#xd7;10&#x3a9;/&#x25a1;.

Input display device

A film sensor includes a polarizing film, an antistatic layer and a capacitive sensor that are laminated in this order, the capacitive sensor having a transparent film, a transparent electrode pattern formed on one side of the transparent film, and an adhesive layer formed on the one side of the transparent film to embed the transparent electrode pattern. The transparent film is disposed between the antistatic layer and the transparent electrode pattern. The antistatic layer has a surface resistance value of 1.0&#xd7;10to 1.0&#xd7;10&#x3a9;/&#x25a1;.

The present invention provides a transparent substrate excellent in solvent crack resistance, toughness, heat resistance, and flexibility. A transparent substrate according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an inorganic glass; and a first resin layer placed on at least one side of the inorganic glass, wherein: the first resin layer contains a resin compound having a weight-average molecular weight in terms of polystyrene of 8&#xd7;10to 100&#xd7;10; and no solvent crack occurs when a mixed solvent containing 20 wt % to 95 wt % of at least one kind of solvent selected from the group consisting of acetone, N-methylpyrrolidone, dimethyl sulfoxide, and N,N-dimethylformamide is brought into contact with the substrate.

The optical compensating film of the present invention is formed by coating an adhesive on a stretched norbornene-based resin film. In the optical compensating film, the adhesive force between the optical compensating film and the adhesive layer is 10 N/20 mm or more.

The present invention provides an optical compensation plate having an optical compensation layer in which occurrence of cracks due to an applied pressure and deformation caused by heat or the like are suppressed. By applying an adhesive that contains a moisture-curing isocyanate compound and has a glass transition temperature of 100&#xb0; C. or less onto at least one surface of the optical compensation layer and curing the adhesive, an anti-cracking layer is formed directly on the surface of the optical compensation layer. The occurrence of cracks and the deformation in the optical compensation layer can be prevented by this anti-cracking layer. The optical compensation layer preferably is a layer having a cholesteric structure, and a constituent material thereof preferably is a non-liquid crystal polymer formed by polymerizing aligned liquid crystal monomers or an aligned liquid crystal polymer.

An inclined optical compensation film formed from a non-liquid-crystal polymer, which is useful in a TN mode liquid crystal display. A substrate is coated with a non-liquid-crystal polymer to thereby form a coating film; the non-liquid-crystal polymer of the coating film is inclined and aligned; and the coating film is solidified, thereby forming an inclined optical compensation film. The non-liquid-crystal polymer can be inclined and aligned by, for example, applying external force, such as wind blowing, to the coating film. This inclined optical compensation film exhibits, for example, a birefringence (&#x394;n) ranging from 0.001 to 0.5 and thus is useful in a TN mode liquid crystal display, etc.

A method for preparing an optical film, which comprises applying and developing an application liquid mixture containing a liquid crystal monomer, a chiral agent and a polymerization initiator on an orientation substrate, subjecting the resultant developed layer to a heat treatment, to orient the monomer to a cholesteric structure, and then subjecting the developed layer to a poltmerization treatment, to polymerize the oriented liquid crystal monomer, thereby forming an optical film exhibiting a selective reflection wave length of 100 to 320 nm. An optical film prepared by the above method is reduced in the coloring due to selective reflection.

The present invention provides an optical compensation plate having an optical compensation layer in which cracks occurring due to an applied pressure is suppressed. By applying a curable adhesive agent onto at least one surface of the optical compensation layer and curing the adhesive, an anti-cracking layer is formed directly on the surface of the optical compensation layer. The occurrence of cracks in the optical compensation layer can be prevented by this anti-cracking layer. The optical compensation layer preferably is a layer having a cholesteric structure, and the constituent material thereof is preferably a non-liquid crystal polymer formed by polymerizing aligned liquid crystal monomers or an aligned liquid crystal polymer.
