A portable terminal computer is adapted for connection to an optional unit and a host computer. The optional unit (6) includes a connector (15) for electrical connection to the main body (1) of the portable computer, guides (8), a lock pawl (9) for coupling the optional unit (6) to the main body (1), and a lock release (17). The main body (1) includes guide inserting slots (10) in which guides (8) are inserted, a pawl inserting slot (11) in which the lock pawl (9) is inserted, and an engagement member (30) for engaging the lock pawl (9). The above-described structure allows smooth attachment and detachment of the main body (1) to and from the optional unit (6), thereby preventing malfunction.

Apparatus for securely attaching and detaching portable computer

An image processing device for controlling data transfer includes an image scanner, an image printer, a facsimile control unit, bus lines for data transfer, a bidirectional parallel interface unit, and a main CPU in a housing. The device is connected to an external data processing device through the parallel interface unit. In addition to the functions which are obtained independent from the external data processing device, the image processing device realizes various kinds of functions by controlling the image scanner, the image printer facsimile control unit and the interface unit by the main CPU in response to commands from the data processing device. As a result, various kinds of image processing functions are carried out.

Image processing device of multifunctional type

A facsimile device for transmitting an original document that is stationarily placed on a document scanning plate during the document transmission is provided. The device includes a sending key for initiating the transmission of the original document, an end line detecting sensor for detecting an end line of the original document being transmitted, and false signal generating units having a main control unit and a device for generating a false signal to a circuit that is used for holding the transmission in response to the detection of the end line by the end line detecting sensor. In this facsimile device, during the replacement of original documents the circuit holds the transmission by sending the false signal generated by the false signal generating units. Furthermore, an operator can transmit one or a plurality of documents in their respective desired lengths.
