There is disclosed a heat-sensitive recording material including an undercoat layer formed on one surface of a support and a heat-sensitive recording layer formed on the undercoat layer. The heat-sensitive recording layer contains a leuco dye and a coloring agent. The undercoat layer contains hollow particles and a binding resin. A maximum particle diameter (D100) of the hollow particles is 10 to 30 μm. A particle diameter (D50) of the hollow particles at cumulative 50 volume % is 4.0 to 15 μm. A ratio D100/D50 of the maximum particle diameter (D100) of the hollow particles to the particle diameter (D50) of the hollow particles at cumulative 50 volume % is 1.8 to 3.0. A volume percentage of the hollow particles having particle diameters of 2.0 μm or less is 1% or less.

Heat-sensitive recording material

Disclosed is a heat-sensitive recording material comprising an undercoat layer and a heat-sensitive recording layer formed in this order on a support, the undercoat layer containing hollow plastic particles and a binder, the heat-sensitive recording layer containing a leuco dye and a developer, and the heat-sensitive recording material having an elastic modulus of 200 N/mmor less as measured by a nanoindentation method.

A main purpose of the present invention is to provide a heat-sensitive recording medium that utilizes a chromogenic reaction between a dye precursor and a developer, wherein a colored image is tinged with a metallic luster so as to exhibit a gold metal color tone with a vivid appearance, or to provide a heat-sensitive recording medium exhibiting a yellow or gold metal color tone and a color tone different from the yellow or gold metal color tone, wherein the color optical density in each of the color tones is high, and a recording part has excellent color separation properties. The present invention provides a heat-sensitive recording medium comprising a heat-sensitive recording layer containing a dye precursor and a developer on a support, the dye precursor being a dye precursor which is colored to a yellow color tone, wherein: (a) the support has a metallic luster and provides a metallic luster to a surface of a base material not having a metallic luster; and/or (b) the dye precursor which is colored to a yellow color tone is a first dye precursor, and the heat-sensitive recording medium further contains a second dye precursor which is colored to a different color tone from the first dye precursor; the first dye precursor being a compound having a specific pyridine skeleton; and the second dye precursor: (b1) has a form of fine composite particles containing the second dye precursor and a polymer compound; or (b2) has a melting point of 200&#xb0; C. or more.

Heat-sensitive recording medium displaying gold metal tone, and/or heat-sensitive recording medium displaying two different color tones

A multicolor thermal recording material that allows multicolor printing in at least four colors and a method for developing color of the multicolor thermal recording material. The multicolor thermal recording material comprises (1) a support, (2) a first thermal color-developing layer containing a first dye precursor and a color-developing compound reactive with the first dye precursor under heating to develop the color of the first dye precursor, (3) an intermediate layer, (4) a second thermal color- developing layer containing composite fine particles containing a second dye precursor and a polymeric compound, and a color-developing compound reactive with the second dye precursor under heating, and (5) a third thermal color-developing layer containing composite fine particles containing a third dye precursor and a polymeric compound, and a color-developing compound reactive with the third dye precursor under heating; wherein the first, second, and third dye precursors are capable of developing mutually different colors.

A light source unit, which is connected to a control unit and an endoscope, radiates a pre-determined light quantity of white light based on a signal from the control unit. The light source unit includes a lamp as a white light source, an infrared cut filter, a light quantity limiting filter, being inserted/removed on an optical path, for limiting light quantity in a pre-determined wavelength region of white light, a filter insertion/removal driving unit for inserting/removing the light quantity limiting filter on an optical path, and a condensing lens for outputting white light. For example, when a transmission rate of a blue band is 100%, the light quantity limiting filter limits transmission rates of other bands to 50%. This improves S/N in discrete spectral image generation with illumination light in a visible light region.
