A driving assistance method for an autonomous vehicle requests an occupant in the host vehicle to approve passage through an intersection and, upon receiving approval from the occupant, controls the host vehicle to pass through the intersection. The method comprises detecting a situation at an intersection where the host vehicle is approaching; determining whether or not the host vehicle will need to make a temporary stop at the intersection, based on the detected situation at the intersection; and if it is determined that a temporary stop will be needed, delaying the timing to request the occupant to approve passage through the intersection as compared to the timing that would be used if it was determined that a temporary stop would not be needed.

Provided is a control method of an automatic driving vehicle switchable between manual driving in which the vehicle is made to travel depending on an operation of an occupant and automatic driving in which driving characteristics in automatic travel are set and the vehicle is made to automatically travel based on the driving characteristics. Manual driving characteristics in the manual driving by the occupant are learned and, when switching from the manual driving to the automatic driving is performed, the automatic driving is performed with the manual driving characteristics maintained for a preset manual characteristic maintaining time. As a result, uneasiness of the occupant can be suppressed.

An information presenting device is mounted in an autonomous vehicle in which an action candidate for the vehicle to take is settable based on selection from presented selection information made by an occupant. The information presenting device sets the action candidate for the autonomous vehicle to take, calculates a selection margin time from a current time point to a time point at which the occupant should complete the selection from the selection information, sets the selection information based on the action candidate depending on the selection margin time, and presents the set selection information to the occupant.

The detection information includes a first image based on a captured image captured by the camera and a second image based on an image rendered on the basis of a detection result of the detector. A sheet pressure sensor includes a first fiber layer, a second fiber layer, and a third fiber layer provided between the first and second fiber layers. The third fiber layer has connecting yarns that electrically connect first conductive portions of the first fiber layer and the second conductive portion in the second fiber layer with a predetermined electric resistivity. The sheet pressure sensor further includes a measuring instrument for measuring electric resistance between at least one of the first conductive portions and the second conductive portion. The connecting yarns unstrain due to deformation of the first or second conductive portion which is generated by applied pressure, and then are short-circuited with one of them. The sheet pressure sensor can detect the pressure while keeping air ventilation characteristic by giving a pressure detection function to the fiber layers.

A sheet heater includes a first fiber layer, a second fiber layer distanced from the first fiber layer, a third fiber layer disposed between the first and second fiber layers, and a controller operable to control heat generation. The first fiber layer is constituted of first conductive portions and first non-conductive portions. The second fiber layer is constituted of second conductive portions and second non-conductive portions. The third fiber layer includes functional layers each constituted of connecting yarns and non-functional layers arranged to insulate each of the functional layers from others of the functional layers. The controller applies voltage between the first and second conductive portions to heat the connecting yarns. According to the heater, a desired temperature distribution can be created on the heater by applying the voltage selectively to one target segment composed of the first conductive portion, the functional layer and the second conductive portion.
