Polypropylene-based resins and polypropylene-based resin compositions

A styrene-based resin composition containing (A) a styrene-based resin with mainly syndiotactic configuration and (B) a thermoplastic resin other than the styrene-based resin exhibit excellent heat resistance and impact resistance. Optionally, the styrene-based resin composition may further contain (C) a rubber polymer and/or (D) an inorganic filler. More particularly, a composition containing 1-98% by weight (A) 1-98% by weight of a styrene-based resin with mainly syndiotactic configuration and 1-98% by weight (B) a polyethylene terephthalate resin or a polyester resin is disclosed.

A resin composition comprising 5 to 95 parts by weight of a saponified product of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) having an ethylene content of 20 to 60 mol % and a degree of saponification of at least 90% and 95 to 5 parts by weight of a styrene-based polymer (B) having mainly syndiotactic configuration. The resin composition has gas barrier properties and a markedly improved heat resistance.

Styrene-based resin composition containing as main components (A) 100 parts by weight of a styrene-based polymer having mainly a syndiotactic configuration and (B) 0.01 to 25 parts by weight of one or more nucleating agents selected from the group consisting of (1) metal salts of organic acids having an average particle diameter of not more than 50 .mu.m, (2) inorganic compounds having an average particle diameter of not more than 50 .mu.m, (3) organophosphorus compounds having an average particle diameter of not more than 50 .mu.m, and (4) metal salts of ionic hydrocarbon copolymer, and a process for producing styrene-based resin moldings by molding the above styrene-based resin composition at a temperature between room temperature and 200.degree. C. The resin composition of the present invention is suitable for injection molding and extrusion molding, and provides moldings which are of high crystallinity and are excellent in heat resistance, solvent resistance, chemical resistance and so forth.
