A liquid ejection apparatus that prevents a user's hand from becoming dirty when attaching and detaching a liquid holding container, the liquid ejection apparatus includes a space portion that is open on a side surface of a housing, a liquid holding container that is detachably mounted to the space portion and includes an introduction port for introducing liquid to an inside thereof, on an upper surface, and a discharge portion that is provided at a position facing the introduction port inside the space portion in a state in which the liquid holding container mounted and includes a discharge port for discharging the liquid to the inside of the liquid holding container, in which the discharge portion is configured such that at least the discharge port is movable.

Liquid ejection apparatus

A liquid ejection head includes a pair of electrodes disposed on a first surface of a substrate forming part of a flow path for a liquid. The electrodes of the pair of electrodes are adjacent to each other in a transverse direction of the electrodes, and the liquid moves in the transverse direction upon application of a voltage across the electrodes. The electrodes each include a ridge portion disposed on the first surface and an electrode wiring line connected to a power source for applying the voltage. The electrode wiring line covers an upper surface of the ridge portion and side surfaces of the ridge portion and extends from parts covering the side surfaces of the ridge portion to a downstream side and an upstream side with respect to a direction in which the liquid moves, so as to cover the first surface.

A liquid ejecting head includes an element substrate including a common liquid chamber connected to a liquid supply source, a pressure chamber connected to the common liquid chamber and including inside an element to generate energy used for ejecting liquid, a bubble generating chamber connected to the common liquid chamber and including inside a pump to cause a flow of the liquid, and a connection flow path connecting the pressure chamber and the bubble generating chamber. The liquid ejecting head includes a first anti-cavitation film over the element to generate the energy and a second anti-cavitation film over the pump, and the first anti-cavitation film and the second anti-cavitation film have different film thicknesses.

A method for updating firmware of a hard disk drive (HDD) within a computer. In order to use the firmware that has been updated without rebooting the computer, the old identification information of the old firmware is loaded into a random-access memory (RAM) of the HDD. The new firmware containing new identification information is written in the non-volatile memory of the HDD during a power-on state of the computer. The new firmware containing new identification information is loaded into the RAM, and the new identification information is rewritten with the old identification information. The old identification information at the RAM of the HDD is sent back in response to a request of identification information from the operating system prior to cold boot.

Method for updating firmware of an electronic device within a computer

An exemplary method includes performing flash memory operations; receiving a signal from a voltage monitor as being associated with the performed flash memory operations; and, based at least in part on the received signal, setting a limit for performing subsequent flash memory operations. In such a method, the limit can act to avoid resetting flash memory responsive to current demand associated with subsequent flash memory operations. Embodiments provide for using two encryption keys to encrypt data instead of only one as is customarily used in the industry. According to various embodiments, a default encryption key is generated and is initially used to encrypt data, while a second encryption key is available for generation by an end user. Embodiments provide that data is encrypted with the default key until the user generates their own key, after this event, all data is encrypted with key generated by the user.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for reclaiming solid state storage with limited write cycles such as flash memory. Through the use of shared storage for common data patterns, physical space may be conserved or reclaimed in a solid state device. The apparatus may use internal mappings and/or external device drivers to handle the reclamation of unused space. By enabling reclamation of physical space, the disclosed systems, apparatus, and methods may provide more efficient read and write access and improved wear leveling.

Solid state storage reclamation apparatus and method

A battery pack is disclosed. The battery pack includes a battery, an impact sensor, a processor and a memory. The impact sensor is capable of generating an impact signal in response to a detection of an impact on the battery pack. The processor is capable of generating impact information based on the impact signal, and processor continues to count a number of charging times to the battery after the generation of the impact information. The memory is capable of storing the impact information and the number of charging times. The processor can refer to the memory to deliver a control command to a battery charger so that the battery can only be charged up to an allowable charge capacity smaller than a full charge capacity after an occurrence of an impact when the battery pack is attached to the battery charger. The charging to the battery stops when the number of the counted charging times reaches a predetermined number of allowable charging times that is allowed after the generation of the impact information.
