An optical module including first and second lens housings that individually receive first and second lenses; first and second optical fiber housings that individually receive end portions of optical fibers; first and second guide pins for positioning the first and second lens housings and the first and second optical fiber housings, with the first and second lens housings abutted against each other at their inner end faces and disposed between the first and second optical fiber units so as to be abutted thereto; two first positioning members provided between the first optical fiber housing and the first lens and between the second optical fiber housing and the second lens, respectively; and a second positioning member disposed between the first and second lenses.

Optical module

An optical module includes first and second fiber units that hold end portions of first and second optical fibers, and first and second collimators disposed between these fiber units and having first and second lenses, respectively. End faces of the first and second optical fibers are disposed on imaginary circumferences on the end faces of the first and second fiber units. Laser light beams from the end face of the first optical fiber are collimated by the first lens and then focused by the second lens, and enter the end face of the second optical fiber that is disposed diametrically opposite to the first optical fiber with respect to the center axis of the optical module.

An optical connector ferrule for supporting an optical fiber tape conductor having an end of which a coating is peeled off to expose optical fibers, comprising: a plurality of fiber inserting holes which are arranged at a plurality of steps and into which the optical fibers are inserted; a guide portion for guiding insertion of optical fibers, formed so as to have an end communicating with a fiber inserting end of each of the fiber inserting holes, the guide portion extending along an axial direction of the fiber inserting holes; and a contact portion formed to be a predetermined distance spaced from an opening end opposed to the fiber inserting end of each of the fiber inserting holes along the axial direction of the fiber inserting holes, the contact portion being brought in contact with an exposed fiber side end of a tape member of the optical fiber tape conductor when each of the optical fibers of the optical fiber tape conductor is inserted into each of the fiber inserting holes.

Optical connector ferrule for supporting an optical fiber tape conductor, optical connector, method for assembling an optical connector and optical fiber inserting jig

A ferrule for optical connector has a body in which lines of fiber holes are arranged in a plurality of tiers. A cavity is formed in the body, and its bottom connects with the respective inlets of the fiber holes. The bottom of the cavity is a tiered bottom designed so that the respective inlet positions of the fiber holes are differentiated in stages between adjacent lines of the fiber hole array. The tiered bottom is formed having guide grooves that extend toward the respective inlets of the fiber holes in the same column of the fiber hole array. An opening is formed in a position of the outer surface of the body parallel to rows of the fiber hole array. The opening allows the tiered bottom to be exposed through the outer surface of the body.

Optical connector for connecting a plurality of fiber ribbons to one another

In a ferrule for a multi fiber optical connector of the multi stages where at least two layers of guide grooves and fiber holes are laminated, a distance of from a straight line that connect middle points between the center axes of the fiber holes that make up a fiber hole array at one end side in a laminating direction and the center axes of the fiber holes that make up a fiber hole array at another end side to an upper side of the entry is longer than a distance of from the straight line to a lower side of the entry. A ceiling of the entry is notched so that an inclination of the multi fiber tape is not regulated by the upper side of the entry when a leading end of each of the optical fibers is pressed against the corresponding guide groove while the multi fiber tape inserted from the entry is inclined toward the upper side of the entry. In a method of manufacturing a multi fiber optical connector, the multi fiber tape is inserted into the ferrule from the entry while being inclined obliquely downward.
