A device for driving a vehicle including an engine that serves as a power source of the vehicle, and a transmission that is connected to the engine, the engine and the transmission being arranged transversely such that an axial direction of an output shaft of the engine accords with a right-left direction of the vehicle includes a motor generator (MG) that serves as a power source of the vehicle, and a speed reducer that is connected to the MG. The MG and at least a part of the speed reducer are arranged outside of an engine compartment that accommodates the engine and the transmission. An output shaft of the speed reducer is connected to a power transmission system, which transmits power of an output shaft of the transmission to a drive shaft of a vehicle wheel to be capable of transmitting its power to the power transmission system.

The sensor may be provided by an infrared temperature sensor. The image may be provided by a thermal image showing a temperature distribution of the vehicle compartment. The occupant detection system may estimate the attitude based on the correspondence relationship.

An occupant detection system includes a state detection unit that detects a state of an object, a detection position changing unit that changes a position of a detection region, the detection region being a region in which state is detected by the state detection unit, and a controller that controls an operation of the detection position changing unit. In this occupant detection system, a position of the detection region is set to a predetermined initial position during a period of time from when a start switch provided in the vehicle is turned off until when the start switch is turned on.

A rotating electrical machine has a housing, a stator having a stator core and a rotor having a rotor core and rotor side plates rotatably supported by the housing. The rotor core is arranged to have a gap between the end surfaces of the rotor core and the stator. Oil containers are arranged on at least one surface of the rotor side plate. Each oil container has a scoop-up part and an exhaust outlet formed on end sections thereof. When the rotor is rotating, the scoop-up part scoops up an oil stored in the housing, the oil and inside air are compressed in the oil container, and the exhaust outlet exhausts the oil and compressed air to the coil end of the stator. The housing stores the oil at a lowermost side thereof so that the scoop-up part and the exhaust outlet are immersed in the oil.

An electric rotary machine includes a stator, which Is fixed to a housing, composed of a stator core having a coil end protruding at an end face of the stator core, a rotor core formed by laminating core sheets, and a rotor having a pair of rotor side-plates sandwiching both end faces of the rotor core. The rotor core is rotatably supported in the housing facing an inner peripheral surface of the stator with a gap between the rotor core and the stator. A bearing is located with movement of an outer race in the longitudinal direction of a drive shaft being restricted, and the drive shaft is fixed to an inner race with the press fit, so that, it is possible to prevent the drive shaft from escaping. In addition, the inner race is longer than the outer race. Therefore, it is possible to obtain sufficient strength of the press fit of the drive shaft in the inner race while suppressing the size of the outer race (in other words, suppressing the size of the pump device). As a consequence, the size of the pump device can be suppressed while increasing reliability of the function for preventing the drive shaft from escaping.

In a vehicle brake control device, a target W/C pressure depending on an amount of operation performed to a brake operating member, exhibits hysteresis due to a forward mapping dataset and a backward mapping dataset. The vehicle brake control device selects the forward mapping dataset or the backward mapping dataset based on the amount of operation performed to the brake operating member, and determines a current value of a current to be supplied to one of first to fourth linear valves. Therefore, it is possible to prevent a wheel cylinder pressure from changing too sensitively to the operation to the brake operating member and from changing even when the driver is not intentionally operating the brake operating member. This makes the driver experience an improved brake feeling.

Vehicle brake control device

In an ABS control, a vehicle brake control device detects a sudden change road in which a friction coefficient changes suddenly from a high value to a lower value and controls, based on the detection of the sudden change road, the currents to be supplied to a first and a second electrical motor in a first manner or a second manner, wherein in the first manner the currents are controlled so that the first and second electrical motors would eventually stop rotating if the motor control portion kept controlling the currents in the first manner for a sufficiently long time, and in the second manner the currents are controlled so that the first and second electrical motors would eventually start rotating in a reverse direction if the motor controlling portion kept controlling the currents in the second manner for a sufficiently long time.

Brake control device for vehicle

A vehicle brake control device determines a first duty factor required to achieve a stable rotational speed of motors and a second duty factor required to achieve a change rate of a target wheel cylinder pressure. The vehicle brake control device selects the larger one of the determined duty factors as a for-use motor duty factor to be used in outputting currents to the motors. Therefore, with the stable rotational speed and the change rate of the target wheel cylinder pressure, it is possible to achieve quick response to a request for braking made by a driver while suppressing the electric energy consumption of the motors.

When the ABS control is executed by the ABS control portion, the vehicle brake control device calculates the first rotational speeds of the first and second motors necessary to achieve the corresponding pressure increase rates and calculates the second rotational speeds of the first and second motors as the upper limits caused by the unlocking pressure limits. Then the vehicle brake control device controls current values of the currents to be supplied to the first and second motors so that they are rotated in the rotational speeds obtained within a range from the first rotational speeds to the second rotational speeds.
