A light source apparatus of the present invention has a plurality of semiconductor laser devices and a holding member; the semiconductor laser device includes: a semiconductor laser element; a placing body on which the semiconductor laser element is mounted; a substrate on which the placing body is biased to one side thereof; and a pair of terminals electrically connected to the semiconductor laser element, biased to the other side of the substrate and protruding from the substrate, and the holding member includes: holes aligned in at least a pair of rows; a thin-walled section on which the holes are arranged, the thin-walled section being formed by providing at least a pair of depressions on the other side; and a thick-walled section provided adjacent to the thin-walled section. The semiconductor laser device is mounted on one side of the holding member and the placing body of the semiconductor laser device is disposed on the thick-walled section, and the pair of terminals are exposed through the holes from the other side of the holding member.

There is provided a light source apparatus and projector having the light source apparatus, said light source apparatus comprising: a laser module where first semiconductor laser(s) and second semiconductor laser(s) which emits a light of the wavelength different from that of said first semiconductor laser(s) are placed such that the emitting direction of each semiconductor laser is approximately the same and a short axis direction of a far field pattern of each semiconductor laser is approximately the same, and an optical multiplexing component which a light which exits from said laser module enters without being converged, wherein said first semiconductor laser(s) and said second semiconductor laser(s) are placed in linear symmetry in said short axis direction at the exit surface of said laser module.

Light source apparatus and projector having light source apparatus

A light source apparatus is provided which uses a plurality of semiconductor laser devices and which offers adequate heat dissipation. The light source apparatus using a plurality of semiconductor laser devices includes a holding member on which the plurality of semiconductor laser devices is arranged, wherein at least one semiconductor laser device among the plurality of semiconductor laser devices is arranged on the holding member such that a relative position of the semiconductor laser device in an optical axis direction with respect to an adjacent semiconductor laser device in a front view of the holding member is greater than a relative position of the semiconductor laser device in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis direction with respect to the adjacent semiconductor laser device.

Provided is a light source unit that includes: one or more kinds of phosphor; a substrate, on which the one or more kinds of phosphor is applied; a plurality of semiconductor laser elements arrayed at a predetermined interval in a package, wherein each of the semiconductor laser elements emits a laser light beam through a light emission region; and a first optical system that comprises a first lens system, a multiplexing optical member having a light entering surface and a light exiting surface, and a second lens system, wherein the first optical system directs the laser light beams emitted from the respective semiconductor laser elements toward the substrate, the first lens system receives the laser light beams emitted from the respective semiconductor laser elements directly without substantial parallelization of the respective received laser light beams, and condenses the received laser light beams on the light entering surface of the multiplexing optical member, the multiplexing optical member multiplexes the laser light beams condensed by the first lens system, into a multiplexed laser light beam having a spatially-uniform intensity distribution, and the second lens system condenses the multiplexed laser light beam that has exited from the light exiting surface of the multiplexing optical member onto the one or more kinds of phosphor.

Light source unit and optical engine

A light source device includes a light source main unit made of a combination of a plurality of semiconductor laser devices, a plurality of collimator lens respectively capable of converting light beams emitted by the respective semiconductor laser devices of the light source main unit to respective approximately parallel light beam fluxes, and a condenser lens capable of condensing light beam fluxes emitted by the plurality of collimator lenses. The light source main unit has the plurality of semiconductor laser devices arranged, when viewed from the condenser lens, so that the stems of the adjacent semiconductor laser devices are seemingly continuous in a first direction perpendicular to the optical axis of the condenser lens, and the stems of the adjacent semiconductor laser devices are overlapped in a second direction perpendicular to both the direction of optical axis and the first direction.
