A liquid supply apparatus includes a reservoir for storing a liquid therein, a supply path for supplying the liquid from the reservoir to a liquid consuming apparatus, a pump for feeding the liquid from the reservoir to the supply path, and a controller for outputting a driving signal to the pump to control the supply of the liquid. The controller acquires a target feed volume of the liquid from the pump to gradually change a feed volume of the liquid from the pump from a current feed volume to the target feed volume, based on a request signal from the liquid consuming apparatus serving as a destination to which the liquid is supplied. This suppresses an abrupt change in pressure in the liquid consuming apparatus serving as the destination to which the liquid is supplied.

A printing apparatus performs printing on a web of printing paper while transporting the printing paper along a transport path. The present invention produces halftone dots which shows smaller fluctuations in size and shape irrespective of variation of the positional relation between the address of screen pattern data and the recording pixels. Displacement F1 through F4 are computed at vertices of a halftone dot region VP1 through VP4. Each of the vertices is shifted to a lattice point of the scanning coordinate systems, and the X-Y coordinates of each lattice point in the scanning coordinate systems are corrected accordingly. The displacement of an arbitrary lattice point A is interpolated from the displacement F1 through F4 on the basis of the distance between each vertex and the lattice point A. As a result, the positional relation between the address of the screen pattern and the position of the recording pixels is maintained constant in the vicinity of the vertices, and this reduces the fluctuations in size and shape of the halftone dots. The center of each halftone dot region can be shifted to a lattice point in the scanning coordinate systems.

The present invention relates to an image reader, such as a color image scanner, which can enhance outline of shapes that occur in an original image 2. The image reader in accordance with the present invention comprises a main-aperture board set 102 at a location on which lights from a light source which are reflected by or pass through the original image 2 and then pass through a lens 8, are focused. A transmission part 104 of the main-aperture set 102 comprises a first transmission part 108 and a second transmission part 110, which is adjacent to the first transmission part 108, the first transmission part 108 being used to transmit lights corresponding to all of the center part of a small area of the original image 2, the second transmission part 110 being used to transmit some of the lights corresponding to the rest of said small area with the quantity of said transmitted lights decreasing according to the increased distance from center C of the first transmission part 108. An image reader using CCD line sensors which effects color correction of three color difference signals resulting from reading of a color original by the CCD line sensors. This image reader employs a plurality of color correction characteristics for enlarging the color difference signals in regions where the color difference signals are large, and limiting enlargement ratios of the color difference signals in regions where the color difference signals are small. A color correction characteristic is selected manually or in accordance with the luminance level of each pixel.
