Piston ring for internal combustion engine

Disclosed is a piston ring that, in an engine where high temperature is reached in the vicinity of the piston ring, is capable of sustaining an excellent effect of preventing aluminum cohesion over a prolonged period of time. The piston ring having a resin-based coating formed on at least one of an upper surface and a lower surface of a piston ring body, the resin-based coating including a first resin-based coating containing plate-like filler having a mean particle diameter of 2 &#x3bc;m to 20 &#x3bc;m and an aspect ratio of 20 to 200 and a second resin-based coating located under the first resin-based coating and containing hard particles having a mean particle diameter of 0.01 &#x3bc;m to 1 &#x3bc;m.

To achieve the above features, at least side faces of the side rails that face the spacer expander are coated with a fluorine-containing coating, and the spacer expander is coated with a metal coating. The angle of contact (&#x3b8;) of a paraffin-based lubricating oil with the portions of the side rails at 150&#xb0; C. that are coated with the fluorine-containing coating is 50&#xb0; or larger, and the angle of contact (&#x3b8;) of the paraffin-based lubricating oil with the portion of the spacer expander at 150&#xb0; C. that is coated with the metal coating is 10 to 50&#xb0;. The difference between &#x3b8;and &#x3b8;(&#x3b8;&#x2212;&#x3b8;) is 30&#xb0; or larger.

Multi-piece oil ring

A piston ring which can sustain a superior effect of preventing aluminum cohesion for a long time in a high output engine is provided. At least one of the upper and lower side faces of a piston ring is coated with a polyimide film having hard particles dispersed therein. Employed as the hard particles may be alumina, zirconia, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, cubic boron nitride, or diamond. The hard particles are to be 0.01 to 5 &#x3bc;m in average particle diameter, and the film is 2 to 30 &#x3bc;m in thickness.

Gas-detecting element and gas-detecting device comprising same

The present invention discloses a NOx sensor for accurately detecting the total concentration of nitrogen oxides in a measured gas without being affected by interference gases. The sensor comprises a gas treatment chamber arranged at the prior stage of the gas detection chamber , an inorganic porous member loaded in the gas treatment chamber, and a NOx conversion pumping cell and/or an oxygen supplying pumping cell which supplies oxygen into the gas treatment chamber. When the measured gas is introduced in the gas treatment chamber, the interference gases contained in the measured gas are effectively oxidized by the supplied oxygen under the assistance of the catalytic activity of inorganic porous member. The total amount of the nitrogen oxides is measured in the gas detection chamber while NOx in the measured gas are converted into a single component (NO or NO) by the NOx conversion pumping cell after the interference gases are oxidized.

NOx sensor

The present invention discloses a gas sensing device, an oxygen pumping cell, and a gas detection apparatus using the same for detecting lower ranges of gas concentration with high accuracy and stability. An under layer made of oxygen-ion-conductive solid electrolyte was formed between an electrolyte substrate and a sensing electrode, a conversion electrode or a gas treatment electrode. This allows the physical and chemical adhesion between these electrodes and the electrolyte substrate, thereby improving the sensing properties and stability.
