Disclosed are a lubricant composition including a lubricating base oil, fine particles and a calcium sulfonate-based thickener, a speed reduction gear filled with the lubricant composition, and an electric power steering apparatus including the speed reduction gear. The invention reduces operating noise of the speed reduction gear, regardless of the amount of backlash that occurs on combining a small gear and a large gear and without a more complicated structure for the speed reduction gear, by action of the fine particles. Further, separation of oil is prevented, by action of the calcium sulfonate-based thickener of the lubricant composition, so that electric power steering apparatus noise within the inside of a car is reduced at a low cost.

Each boot of a tripot type constant velocity joint comprises a polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer (TPC). A grease encapsulated in the boot comprises a base oil, a thickening agent comprising a diurea-based compound, molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate sulfide, a sulfur-phorsphorous based extreme-pressure agent being a sulfur-phosphorus based compound containing sulfur and phosphorous as constituting elements, and potassium borate hydrate.

The grease composition has load resistance, or seizure-preventing ability and wear-reducing ability high enough to use the grease under severe lubricating conditions, and can impart, to the steering of motorcars, excellent operability at a low temperature.

A grease composition for constant velocity joints comprises the following components: (a) a base oil; (b) a diurea type thickening agent; (c) a molybdenum sulfurized dialkyl dithiocarbamate; (d) molybdenum disulfide; (e) at least one sulfur-phosphorus-containing extreme-pressure agent selected from the group consisting of zinc dithiophosphate compounds and thiophosphates; and (f) a fatty acid amide. The grease composition of the present invention has a high ability of reducing the induced thrust force and is excellent in the durability.

A grease composition for constant velocity joints comprises (a) a base oil; (b) a urea thickener; (c) at least one organic molybdenum compound selected from the group consisting of molybdenum dithiocarbamate and molybdenum dithiophosphate; and (d) at least one calcium salt selected from the group consisting of calcium salts of petroleum sulfonates, calcium salts of alkyl aryl sulfonates, calcium salts of salicylate, calcium salts of phenates, calcium salts of oxidized waxes, overbasic calcium salts of petroleum sulfonates, overbasic calcium salts of alkyl aryl sulfonates, overbasic calcium salts of salicylate, overbasic calcium salts of phenates, and overbasic calcium salts of oxidized waxes. The grease composition exhibits good performance for reducing vibration and effectively lubricates the constant velocity joints to effectively reduce frictional wear and to eliminate vibration.

A grease composition for constant velocity joints which consists essentially of: (a) a base oil; (b) an urea thickener; (c) molybdenum disulfide; and (d) a metal salt or an overbasic metal salt selected from the group consisting of metal salts or overbasic metal salts of oxidized waxes, petroleum sulfonates, alkyl aryl sulfonates, salicylate, and phenates. A grease composition for constant velocity joint, particularly Zeppa type joint comprises a base oil and contains (A) a particular diurea compound as a thickener, (B) molybdenum sulfide dialkyldithiocarbamate, (C) an extreme pressure additive of zinc dithiophosphate, (D) a sulfur-phosphorus series extreme pressure additive containing no metallic element and having a sulfur content of 10-30% by weight and a phosphorus content of 0.5-5% by weight, and (E) lead dialkyldithiocarbamate as an essential component.
