To provide a golf ball that can prevent a decrease in carry distance of a driver shot when it rains and also, can exert excellent spinning performance upon an approach shot. The golf ball of the present invention includes a core, a cover that is provided on an outer side of the core and is provided with dimples, and an outermost layer that is formed on an outer side of the cover and made of a material having a contact angle of 90&#xb0; or more. The golf ball has a dynamic friction coefficient of 0.52 or more. The material constituting the outermost layer comprises a urethane coating that contains a water repellent additive, and the water repellent additive includes a fluorinated surfactant, silicone-modified acrylate or hydrophobic silica. The urethane coating comprises a polyisocyanate as a curing agent, and the polyisocyanate includes both an adduct form and an isocyanurate form of hexamethylene diisocyanate, and a mixing ratio (isocyanurate form/adduct form) of the isocyanurate and adduct forms of the hexamethylene diisocyanate, expressed as a mass ratio, is from 95/5 to 40/60.

The ball surface is scratch-resistant and has an excellent durability, and the ball has a reduced spin rate on shots with a driver or a long iron, resulting in an increased carry.

The golf ball of the present invention includes a core, a cover that is provided on an outer side of the core and has dimples, and an outermost layer that is formed on an outer side of the cover and made of a material having a contact angle of 90&#xb0; or more and a dynamic contact angle of 85&#xb0; or less. A golf ball paint composition includes primarily a urethane paint made of a polyol and a polyisocyanate. The polyol is an acrylic polyol, and the composition has an elastic work recovery of at least 70%. The paint composition has a high self-repairing ability and is of high quality as a golf ball paint. Golf balls coated with this composition are able to maintain a good durability, in addition to which they have an excellent abrasion resistance and an excellent ball appearance.

A golf ball having a good rebound and excellent flight performance can be obtained using a golf ball composition which contains a diene polymer having an aluminum catalyst residue content of not more than 650 ppm.

The invention provides a solid golf ball having a core and a cover. The core is formed of a rubber composition containing a base rubber, a co-crosslinking agent, a crosslinking initiator and a metal oxide. The base rubber contains polybutadiene, a styrene-butadiene rubber and, optionally, an isoprene rubber. The co-crosslinking agent is methacrylic acid, and the rubber composition includes a specific waste material in the form of a powder. The core deflection and the cover material are optimized. Utilizing a waste material in a solid golf ball conserves resources and thus is beneficial to the global environment. Even during prolonged use, the golf ball maintains its basic performance attributes (feel, flight, durability) at a high level.
