A vehicle seat apparatus in which a seat is rotated around a rotational shaft to the rear of a vehicle in such a manner that a bottom surface of a seat cushion is made to face the inside of a passenger compartment so that the seat can be stowed in a recessed portion. The rotational shaft extends in a transverse direction along a front edge of the recessed portion to be fixed to a vehicle body at ends thereof. A seat cushion and a seat back of the seat are both divided into at least two in a widthwise direction. Respective seats so divided are rotatably supported on the rotational shaft individually.

Vehicle seat apparatus

To utilize limited space in a vehicle cabin, a vehicular under-seat compartment mechanism includes a hinge mechanism, a compartment and a lock mechanism. The hinge mechanism interconnects a seat-frame and a seat-cushion in such a manner that the seat-cushion is pivotally rotatable with respect to the seat-frame. The compartment is disposed in the under-seat space under the seat and is formed an opening upwardly. The lock mechanism, integrated with the hinge mechanism, locks the seat-cushion at an upright position, at which the seat-cushion is pivotally flipped up about the hinge mechanism so that the compartment is accessible.

Vehicular under-seat compartment mechanism

A seat for vehicle use, the front portion of which is capable of tipping up. The seat includes a seat back, a seat cushion, a tip-up unit which tips up a forward end side of the seat cushion from a base position to an upward tip-up position, and a rock unit which holds the seat cushion at at least one position between the base position and the tip-up position. The seat cushion includes a front seat cushion positioned at a front side of a vehicle and a rear seat cushion positioned at the rear of the front seat cushion. The front seat cushion is provided with the tip-up unit. The rock unit includes a first gear and a second gear both mutually engaged so as to permit tip-up motion of the seat cushion and restrict the tip-down motion of the seat cushion.

Seat for vehicle use

A vehicle seat stowing structure has seats provided on a floor. The seats are rotated rearwardly of a vehicle around a rotational shaft fixed to a vehicle body so that the bottom surface of each of seat cushions is directed to the inside of a passenger compartment. The seats are stowed in a recess formed in the floor. The floor is formed so that at least a part thereof extending between a portion provided forwardly of a place, at which the seats are installed, and a front edge of the recess is flat. A casing is provided at a place, which is located forwardly of the recess and faces the bottom surfaces of the seat cushions, on the floor.
