In a vehicle door outer handle device, an inwardly recessed housing recess is provided in a base member fixed to a vehicle door; an outer handle having an operation portion is pivotably supported on the base member while being able to pivot to an operated position in accordance with pulling of the operation portion and being spring-biased toward a non-operated position side, at least part of the operation portion being disposed in the housing recess; and a cylinder lock is mounted on the base member so that a key hole is covered at least in a state in which the outer handle is in the non-operated position. In the outer handle device, a cover member is detachably mounted on the base member so as to cover the key hole, the cover member being formed as a separate body from the outer handle so as to form part of the housing recess while forming a design surface of the base member. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a vehicle door outer handle device that makes it difficult for the position of a cylinder lock to be identified.

A temporary checking device is provided that works in conjunction with elements of a vehicle hinge that remain in the vehicle's final configuration. The hinge includes a hinge pin rotatably connecting a door hinge bracket to a pillar hinge bracket. The checking device includes a spring portion that is disposed between the door hinge bracket and the pillar hinge bracket. The spring portion is compressed during movement of the door hinge bracket relative to the pillar hinge bracket from either of two rest positions. The spring portion urges the vehicle door affixed thereto back into one of the rest positions, thus allowing manufacturing operations such as painting, etc., to be performed on the vehicle.

A guide rail assembly includes a guide rail, a slider that slides along the guide rail, a wire fixed to the slider, and upper and lower wire feeders located at the upper and lower ends of the guide rail. The guide rail assembly, a drum around which the wire is wound, and a motor for turning the drum are mounted on a base bracket to form a single unit which is attached to a door inner panel.

A molding attaching structure includes a sash provided on an automobile door, an outer sash mounted to the sash, and a molding mounted to the outer sash. When a door glass of the door is fully closed, the molding has its one side end laid over an edge of the door glass. The molding has its outer surface substantially flush with an outer surface of an automobile body. The outer sash includes a molding attachment part projecting outwardly therefrom. The molding attachment part includes an extension part and an edge part. The edge part includes a first portion extending from the extension part away from the door glass and having a distal end bent back, and a second portion extending from the distal end across the extension part towards the door glass.

A casing has a processing chamber and a drying chamber defined therein by a partition mechanism. The processing chamber houses an impelling mechanism for impelling a mixed stream of glass beads and water toward a gear. First and second drying mechanisms are successively brought into the drying chamber by the partition mechanism. While the gear is being processed, i.e., peened, by the impelling mechanism in the processing chamber, a previously processed gear is dried in the drying chamber. Gears can quickly and efficiently be peened, washed, and dried successively in the casing.

Apparatus for increasing the surface strength of metal components

A bearing is automatically installed on an engine component of a internal combustion engine, such as a connecting rod, a crankshaft, a cylinder block, or the like. Data indicated on the engine component and identifying the engine component is read and stored. A bearing which matches the engine component is selected from a bearing stocker based on the stored data. The selected bearing is then transferred to an installing robot which installs the bearing on the engine component.
