A gas sensor () has a gas sensor element () including a first measurement chamber (); a first pumping cell () having a first interior pump electrode () and its counterpart electrode (); a second measurement chamber (); a second pumping cell () that has a second interior pump electrode (); and a beater (). The heater () has a lead section (); a first resistance portion () having a higher resistance than the lead portion (); and a main heating portion () having a second resistance portion () having a higher resistance than the first resistance portion () disposed at a leading end side in a longitudinal direction relative to a leading end of the first resistance portion (). The second interior pump electrode () is located within the first resistance portion () in the longitudinal direction.

Gas sensor

A gas sensor including: a cylindrical metal shell; a detection element having a detection portion provided on a front end side thereof, the detection element being fixed inside the metal shell while the detection portion of the detection element protrudes from a front end side of the metal shell; and an element protection cap having ventholes, the element protection cap being fixed to the metal shell so that the detection portion of the detection element is covered with the element protection cap. A crimping cylindrical portion is provided which extends to a front end side of the metal shell. A protrusion portion of the element protection cap which abuts a metal ring packing is provided with concave and convex portions outward along an outer circumferential direction. As such, the metal ring packing is deformed so as to be interlocked with the concave and convex portions when the crimping cylindrical portion is compressively deformed.

An object is to provide a gas sensor which can suppress positional shift of a to-be-held member such as a gas detection element, as well as a method of manufacturing the gas sensor. A gas sensor () includes a gas detection element (), a metallic shell (), a plate packing (), and a first packing (). A proximal end surface () of a projection () of the gas sensor element () and a central inner circumferential surface () of the metallic shell () form an acute-angle clearance (). The first packing (), which has a wedge-like cross section, is disposed in the clearance () such that the first packing () is pressed against the proximal end surface () of the projection () of the gas sensor element () and the central inner circumferential surface () of the metallic shell ().

Gas sensor and method of manufacturing the gas sensor

A gas sensor unit including a gas sensor and a sensor cap. The gas sensor includes a gas detecting element, an electrode provided on the gas detecting element and a sensor terminal connecting to the electrode for transmitting an output signal from the gas detecting element. The sensor cap is adapted for transmitting the output signal to an external device. The sensor cap includes a cap terminal electrically connecting to the sensor terminal and an enclosing member bonding to the gas sensor so as to form an internal space in cooperation with the gas sensor. The enclosing member includes a communicating hole through which the internal space is in communication with a space outside the gas sensor unit, and the communicating hole is gas-permeably and watertightly closed by a filter member.

Gas sensor unit and sensor cap

The invention presents a gas sensor low in cost and easy to form a terminal member, a gas sensor cap connected to the gas sensor for sending an output signal to an external device, and a gas sensor unit capable of holding a stable electrically connected state between the terminal member of the gas sensor and the gas sensor cap. The gas sensorof the invention includes a gas detecting elementand a terminal member. The terminal memberis made of a plate material bent and processed into a predetermined shape, and includes a tubular output-side terminal portionelectrically connected to a cap terminalfor sending an output signal of the gas detecting element, which is the output-side terminal portionexpanding elastically in diameter when connected to the cap terminal, and a tubular element-side terminal portionconnected electrically to an inside electrode, which is the element-side terminal portioninserted into the gas detecting elementwhile contracting elastically in diameter.

Gas sensor, gas sensor cap, and gas sensor unit

A gas sensor including a detection element having a front-end portion, a detection portion formed at the front-end portion of the detection element, and a protector that covers the detection portion. The protector includes a first portion having a first sidewall and a second portion having a second sidewall disposed outside the first portion. The first sidewall has an axial front end and a tapering portion. The tapering portion is formed from the axial front end of the first sidewall. The side portion has a front-end surface provided with a first gas outlet, and the second portion has a front-end surface provided with a second gas outlet. Furthermore, at least one gas inlet is formed to the sidewall of the second portion opposite the tapering portion, and plural gas inlets are formed on the sidewall of the first portion.

A heat-resisting metal-sheathed cable for a sensor includes: an outer sheathing tube made of a heat-resisting metal; an inner sheathing tube made of a heat-resisting metal and disposed within the outer sheathing tube with a predetermined gap that includes an open ventilation passage between an inner circumferential surface of the outer sheathing tube and an outer circumferential surface of the inner sheathing tube; at least one conductor disposed within the inner sheathing tube; and a mass of insulating powder disposed within the inner sheathing tube and around the at least one conductor.
