An electrical connector includes a connector main body made of an insulating material for attaching an end portion of a pair of single wires untwisted at an end portion of a twisted pair cable; and a shell member to hold the untwisted portion. The shell member includes a base portion made of a conductive material to dispose the connector main body at the front end side and the untwisted portion at the basal end side; a cable holding portion made of a conductive material to hold the single wires at the untwisted portion for positioning the single wires parallel to each other and close or contact to each other; and a cover portion provided on the base portion to have at least the untwisted portion and the cable holding portion between the cover portion and base portion.

Electrical connector and method of connecting twisted pair cable to the electrical connector

An electrical connector for connecting a flat-type circuit board () includes a pressing member () to press the flat-type circuit board () to a member to be connected (P). The pressing member () includes a section to be supported by a support member (); a bent section (); a flat section (); and a pressing section () having elasticity and facing the flat section, with the flat section () and the pressing section () being provided across the bent section (). The pressing section () holds the flat-type circuit board () by elastically pressing it toward a corresponding connecting section (P) in a state that the flat-type circuit board () is between the pressing section () and the corresponding connecting section (P).

The elastic protruded section extends from the retention section in a direction of thickness of the support plate to form at opposite ends contact faces (,) for elastic contact with the circuit portions (,A,,A) of the connection objects (,) and has, adjacent to the retention section, shoulder (,) portions having an outside diameter which is smaller than the inside diameter of the support aperture.
