A solenoid valve has a valve housing, first and second valve members, first and second biasing members, a pressing rod and an electromagnetic driving member. The valve housing defines a fluid pathway for flowing fluid therein. The first and the second valve members are configured to open and close the fluid pathway, respectively. The first biasing member biases the first valve member in a direction for closing the fluid pathway. The second biasing member biases the second valve member in a direction for closing the fluid pathway. The electromagnetic driving member sequentially presses the pressing rod against the first valve member and the second valve member in order to open the fluid pathway in stages.

Solenoid valves capable of controlling valve-opening area

A solenoid switching valve is provided at a low concentration gas pipe that sends gas from a second separating film unit to a canister. A reflux pipe, that is branched-off from the low concentration gas pipe by the solenoid switching valve, merges with a medium concentration gas pipe that is from the second separating film unit, and further runs via a circulating pipe, and reaches a merge portion with a purge pipe from the canister. By switching the solenoid switching valve to the merge portion side and driving a purge pump that is provided at an exhaust pipe between the merge portion and a first separating film unit, gas, whose concentration has risen within the low concentration gas pipe, is sent to the first separating film unit, and is separated into high concentration gas HG and low concentration gas LG.

Evaporated fuel processing device

A canister comprises a tank port communicated with an upper air chamber in a closed fuel tank, a purge port communicated with an intake passage of an engine, an atmospheric port opened to the atmosphere, and a main adsorbent chamber containing activated carbon, and the canister is further provided with a partition plate between the tank port and the purge port for preventing both ports from being directly communicated with each other, so as to form a first chamber between the main adsorbent chamber and the tank port, and a second chamber between the main adsorbent chamber and the purge port, and a purge buffer plate is further provided in the main adsorbent chamber between the tank port and the purge port, for communicating between the first and second chambers with each other, the first chamber serves as an air chamber containing no activated carbon while the second chamber contains activated carbon. With this configuration, the canister has no external pipe line, the time change in fuel concentration of purged gas during treatment of evaporated fuel from the fuel tank is moderated in order to restrain an engine air-fuel ratio from being abruptly changed, and the operation ability of the engine can be satisfied.

Canister

In an engine with a supercharger, there is provided an evaporated fuel processing apparatus for collecting vapor generated in a fuel tank into a canister and purging the collected vapor into an intake passage. The supercharger includes a compressor. The evaporated fuel processing apparatus comprises a purge passage through which the vapor is purged from the canister into the intake passage upstream of the compressor, a second purge passage through which the vapor is purged from the canister into a surge tank, two electromagnetic valves which are operated to open and close the two purge passage, various sensors which detect an operating condition of the engine, and an electronic control unit (ECU) which controls the electromagnetic valves respectively on the basis of values detected by the sensors.

Evaporated fuel processing apparatuses for engines with supercharger

Fuel supply pipe includes a fixed fuel supply pipe that comprises a metal, such as stainless steel, and connecting fuel supply pipes that comprise a resin or similar material. The bulk resistivity of connecting fuel supply pipes is chosen to be within the range from 10 to 10 &OHgr;&middot;cm. By doing this, the amount of electric charge that builds up in the fuel when the fuel passes through connecting fuel supply pipes can be held low. Further, the electric charge that builds up on connecting fuel supply pipes is not rapidly discharged. Therefore, spark discharge can be prevented from being generated on connecting fuel supply pipe . Connecting fuel supply pipes may have a multi-layer structure that includes an innermost layer having a bulk resistivity of 10 to 10 &OHgr;&middot;cm and an outermost layer having a bulk resistivity of about 10 &OHgr;&middot;cm or more.

Fluid supply pipe

This invention relates to a filter in which a fuel pump for drawing fuel from a tank and a fuel filter unit for filtering foreign matter from the fuel which has been drawn from the tank by the fuel pump are integrally assembled together. More particularly, the invention relates to a filter improved such that the amount of electric charge, which builds up on the filter, is not increased to such an extent that the resin is rapidly deteriorated. In one embodiment, when forming a filter by assembling a generally cylindrical filter element around an outer periphery of a generally cylindrical pump, a cover for covering the filter element is made of a nonconductive material, and the generally cylindrical filter element is of the type which filters foreign matter from the fuel by causing the fuel to flow radially therethrough. With this type of filter element, the amount of electric charge can be reduced. Therefore, by covering the filter element with a nonconductive cover and disposing it within a tank, corona discharge is generated from the surface of the cover when the cover is exposed above the fuel remaining in the tank to thereby present a problem of electric discharge. Thus, the amount of electric charge on the surface of the cover can be controlled so as not to increase the resin deterioration rate.

In-tank fuel filter improved to resist electrification

A fuel supply system includes a fuel pump and a housing that are disposed within a fuel tank . A damping material is disposed on an upper end portion of a sidewall of the housing . The damping material reduces the transmission of vibrations generated by the fuel pump from to the fuel tank to thereby prevent the fuel tank from vibrating. The damping material may include an elastic material having a specific gravity of 0.12 to 0.4. Alternatively, the damping material may include a fuel-resistant paper material.

Reduced vibration fuel supply systems

In order to reduce a discharge amount of an evaporated fuel to the atmosphere and make it possible to manufacture an automobile in accordance with a module production, in a canister module, a fill check valve, a cut off valve, a positive and negative pressure check valve and the like are previously assembled in a module main body in an integral manner and the canister module is covered with a cover portion of a canister case having an absorbent storage chamber on an evaporated fuel outlet side and the cover portion is welded to a module main body so as to keep an airtight condition, thereby forming a passage portion surrounded by the cover portion and the module main body. Accordingly, a rubber hose is omitted and a transmitting amount of the evaporated fuel to the atmosphere is reduced.

Fuel filter with return path for reducing electrical charge buildup

A fuel supply system having a pump for drawing and discharging fuel from a tank and a filter for catching foreign matter in the fuel. A housing has a fuel outlet and supports the pump. The pump has a fuel intake port and a fuel discharge port. A fuel passage is located in the housing and connects the fuel outlet with the discharge port The filter is located in the fuel passage. The filter has a filter case and a filter element therein. The filter case is located in the housing spaced from the inner wall thereof.

Fuel supply system having a pump with a resiliently mounted filter

In a fuel filter module for introducing fuel from a fuel inlet into a casing and for removing foreign matter from the fuel by passing the fuel through a fuel member and for discharging the fuel through a fuel outlet to the outside of the casing, and the casing is formed to have a D-shaped cross section. With this construction, the outer diameter of the casing is not increased even when an accessory is assembled on the outside plane wall of the D-shaped casing. The casing accommodates a filter member of C-shaped cross section. The center of a C-shaped sealing member provided for sealing the upper edge of the filter member is offset from the center of the casing. By thus offsetting, sufficient areas for fuel inlet and outlet can be ensured without increasing the size of the casing.
