A glazing is disclosed comprising at least one ply of glass having an electrically conductive component on at least one surface, and an electrical connector electrically connected to the electrically conductive component through a soldered joint, the solder of the joint having a composition comprising 0.5 wt % or more indium, wherein the electrical connector comprises a nickel plated contact for contacting the solder. Also disclosed are solders having a composition comprising 14 to 75 wt % In, 14 to 75 wt % Sn, to 5 wt % Ag, to 5 wt % Ni, and less than 0.1 wt % Pb. Also disclosed is use of a solder having a composition comprising 0.5 wt % or more indium to solder a nickel plated electrical connector to an electrically conductive component on the surface of a ply of glass. The aspects of the invention improve the durability of electrical connections on glazing.

Glazing with a soldered connector

A glass substrate is held by a glass substrate holding member in the vertical direction, and a nozzle is used to eject an infrared cutoff liquid onto the upper portion of the glass substrate. The infrared cutoff liquid flows vertically downward so as to be applied onto the glass substrate. The film thickness of the lower portion of an infrared cutoff film is greater than that of the upper portion. The glass substrate is dried for approximately five minutes at room temperature. Then, the glass substrate onto which the infrared cutoff liquid has been applied is placed in an oven preheated to 200&#xb0; C., heated for ten minutes, and then cooled. The glass substrate having the infrared cutoff film thereon is installed in a railroad vehicle such that the lower portion of the glass substrate is located on the lower side with respect to the railroad vehicle.

Vehicle window glass and manufacturing method therefor

A window pane for an automobile includes a single sheet of glass plate and an infrared cutoff film formed on the single sheet of glass plate. A film thickness of the infrared cutoff film on an upper portion of the window pane is greater than the film thickness on a lower portion of the window pane when the window pane is installed in the automobile. A variation from a minimum value in the film thickness on the lower portion to a maximum value in the film thickness on the upper portion is at least 1000 nm per 600 mm in a vertical direction of the window pane when installed in the automobile. The infrared cutoff film is formed on a surface of the single sheet of glass plate by using a flow coating method.

Vehicle window pane and manufacturing method therefor

A vehicle window glass which is capable of preventing a film formed on a surface of a glass plate from peeling off to thereby improve the appearance quality of an edge portion of the glass plate. The vehicle window glass comprises a polished edge portion of a glass plate and a surface of the glass plate. A film is integrally formed on the surface of the glass plate and on at least one side of the polished edge portion of the glass plate, and a side of the edge portion on which the film is integrally formed is exposed outside when the vehicle window glass is mounted on a vehicle.

Vehicle window glass and process for manufacturing the same

An electrically heated window glass is provided, in which an electric power load may be suppressed by causing a consumed electric power for energizing a heater to be variable depending on the purpose of heating. The electrically heated window glass in accordance with the present invention comprises two glass panels laminated to each other; a plurality of heaters sandwiched between the two glass panels for heating the glass panels, the heaters being positioned in such a manner that the heaters divide the surface of the laminated glass panels into plural parts; a plurality bus bars each provided at the end portions of each of the plurality of heaters for feeding thereto; and a changeover means for switching the connection between selected one of the plurality of bus bars and a DC power supply to heat the plurality of heaters in a series connected manner or parallel connected manner.

Electrically heated window glass

For prevention of ghost images from occurring on head-up displays, a glass surface is ground, and a reflecting surface with a wedge-shaped cross section is formed. Furthermore, in order to reduce optical distortion at the edge portion of the reflecting surface, a ground surface contacting the reflecting surface with an angle between 150&deg; and 210&deg; is formed. In accordance with the enlargement of the reflecting surface accompanied by the tendency of head-up displays becoming larger, the reflecting surface is divided into at least two regions, and the angle of the reflecting surface is optimized for each region.

Head-up display device and laminated glass for head-up display device

The present invention is directed to a light-transmitting color film comprising oxides which have high chemical resistance and excellent light-absorption effect, making them available in a wide color range; a method for producing the same; and a coating solution used for forming the color film. In the light-transmitting color film comprising an oxide of an element which serves as a network former and oxides of transition metal elements serving as coloring components, the element serving as a network former is at least one selected from Si, Al, and B, and the transition metal elements comprise Cu, Mn, and Ni; and the two types of oxides form a complex oxide. Moreover, a method for producing the light-transmitting color film comprises: coating on the substrate a coating solution for forming the color film which contains at least one alkoxide of elements selected from Si, Al, and B which serve as network formers, and as coloring components, transition metal salts comprising at least Cu, Mn, and Ni, and at least one organic compound having a functional group which can coordinate the transition metals; and thereafter firing the substrate.

Light-transmitting color film, method for producing the same, and coating solution for forming the color film

There is provided a method of manufacturing a glass plate with a light-transmissive colored film using a coating solution including a metal salt and a metal alkoxide, the light-transmissive colored film having a coloring effect due to a metal oxide which will not be impaired even if the amount of the added metal alkoxide is increased, and being highly resistant to wear and chemicals. A method of manufacturing a glass plate with a light-transmissive colored film comprises the steps of hydrolyzing and polymerizing a metal alkoxide to form a hydrolyzed polymeric product, aging the hydrolyzed polymeric product to achieve a weight-average molecular weight no less than 3000 based on polystyrene, preparing a coating solution including the hydrolyzed polymeric product, a metal salt as a coloring component, and a solvent, coating the coating solution on a surface of a glass plate, preliminarily firing the glass plate to convert the hydrolyzed polymeric product into a porous gel, and firing the glass plate to vitrify the porous gel and thermally decompose the metal salt into an oxide.

Method of manufacturing glass plate with light-transmissive colored film

The present invention provides a heat-screening glass provided with a protective film having improved wear resistance and chemical resistance in comparison with a protective film of silicon dioxide. A heat-screening glass according to the present invention is composed of a transparent sheet glass and a heat-screening film coated thereon and a protective film made of silicon oxynitride as an outermost layer. The protective film is made of silicon oxynitride represented by the formula SiO.sub.x N.sub.y (where x ranges from 0.65 to 1.25 and y ranges from 0.05 to 0.67) .

In an automotive window glass having a pair transparent sheet glasses that are stuck to each other with a transparent resin film, the inner surface of one of the pair of sheet glasses, which faces the transparent resin film, is coated with a heat-ray intercepting film that is composed of any one of the following chemical formulas whose atomic ratios are defined.

A heat ray screening glass according to this invention comprises a sheet glass, a first layer covered on the sheet glass and which is 55 nm to 70 nm thick and has a refractive index of 1.8 to 2.1 at a wavelength of 550 nm, a second layer covered on the first layer and consisting of a TiO.sub.2 film which is 30 nm to 55 nm thick and has a refractive index of 2.3 to 2.5 at a wavelength of 550 nm, and a third layer covered on the second layer and which is 45 nm to 60 nm thick and has a refractive index of 1.8 to 2.1 at a wavelength of 550 nm, wherein the change in color of the light transmitted through and reflected on the sheet ray screening glass is very little, and a comparative high visible light transmittance and a low visible light reflectivity in the glass can be obtained.
