A print head for use in dot matrix printers for producing characters and symbols formed from dots. The print head is composed of a plurality of stylus actuator assemblies arranged one after the other in two interlocking rows and with all the styli level with each other on a head frame. Each of the stylus actuator assemblies comprises an electromagnetic actuator fixed to the head frame and energized by an impact driving current, a yoke base fixed to the stylus actuator assembly, and an armature pivotally supported on the yoke base and at one end thereof having a stylus for printing and at the other end thereof having a plunger attracted by the electromagnetic actuator, whereby the stylus is impacted onto a recording paper. All armatures of the stylus actuator assemblies have bent portions provided on the same side thereof with respect to the direction in which the print head traverses.

A vibrating apparatus, such as a shuttle type dot printer, has a vibrating unit mounted in the casing thereof and which, when it operates, generates vibrations in opposite lateral directions of the vibrating unit. The vibrating unit is mounted in the casing for providing interacting of vibrations which occur in the inside by leaf type springs connected between pairs of projections on the vibrating unit and the casing with the plane of the leaf type springs perpendicular to the lateral direction of the vibrations of the vibrating unit. The apparatus further has a locking device for locking the vibrating unit relative to the casing, which, when the casing is on a supporting surface, allows the vibrating unit to vibrate freely in the opposite lateral directions, and which, when the casing is lifted off the supporting surface, locks the vibrating unit to the casing.

A dot matrix double print head including a front actuator and a rear actuator is disclosed. Each actuators has a print wire unit in which a plurality of print wires are slidably mounted, a plurality of electromagnets, and a plurality of armatures corresponding to the number of electromagnets. The length of the armature of the rear actuator is smaller than that of the front actuator, and thereby the moments of inertia of each of the armatures and print wires of both the actuators approach each other.

Double print head

A stylus actuator unit for dot matrix line printers in which each electromagnetic actuator drives each stylus. An armature is rockably supported by the electromagnetic actuator while fixing a stylus for printing to one end thereof and having at the other end thereof a plunger to be attracted by the electromagnetic actuator. At an intermediate between the stylus fixing end and the plunger fixing end of armature is provided an armature support member composed of a torison leaf spring which is supported by a yoke base mounted on the electromagnetic actuator. The torsion leaf spring has a configuration of the letter E and both side portions are fixed to the yoke base and the central portion supports the armature. When the electromagnetic actuator attracts the plunger, the armature on the side of the stylus is driven in the opposite direction to the direction of attraction, thereby enabling the stylus to impact to the paper placed over the outer periphery of the platen.

A print head for a dot-type printer has a nose having a wire point guide thereon and a plurality of print wires slidably guided in the wire point guide, and a nose base contacting surface thereon, a solenoid base having a magnetic system for moving the respective print wires selectively for causing the point ends of the wires to move outwardly from the wire point guide for printing on a platen, and a nose base having a nose contacting surface in opposed relation to the nose base contacting surface on the nose, and having a solenoid base contacting surface in opposed relation to the solenoid base and having a mounting device for mounting the print head on a carriage. A spacer is engaged between the nose base contacting surface and the nose contacting surface for adjusting the distance the wire ends extend from the front of the wire point guide, a further spacer is engaged between the solenoid base and the solenoid base contacting surface for adjusting the distance of the wire ends from the carriage, and a leaf spring is removably engaged between the nose and the nose base for holding the nose and the nose base together.

A dot matrix print head comprises a print wire unit in which a plurality of print wires are slidably mounted, an electromagnet unit having a plurality of electromagnets, and an armature unit secured to the electromagnet unit. The armature unit has a cover, a spring plate having a plurality of projections, and a plurality of armatures. Each armature has a projection which is engaged with a hole formed in a sub-yoke. The engagement of the projection is kept by the projection of the spring plate.

A printer head of improved design for a dot line printer, for high speed data printout. The printer head features independent magnetic circuits for driving each of the printer needles which form printed dots, with the magnetic circuits acting on armatures carrying the printer stylus, the armatures being mounted on the free ends of leaf springs. The leaf springs can be designed for optimum performance, irrespective of magnetic circuit considerations, and the head assembly is based on a lightweight non-magnetic frame. Substantially higher printing speeds than have hitherto been possible are attainable, due to reduced heat buildup in the drive coils, reduced interference between adjacent magnetic circuits, and optimized spring performance.
