There is provided a lower vehicle body structure, in which a floor panel is provided between a pair of side sills extending longitudinally, a tunnel portion extending longitudinally is provided at a central portion of the floor panel, and a seat is provided between the side sill and tunnel portion, wherein there are provided a seat support member outer to support the seat, which extends longitudinally inside the side sill, and a plurality of cross members extending in the vehicle width direction with a specified distance therebetween longitudinally, outside end portions of which are connected to the seat support member outer and inside end portions of which are connected to the tunnel portion. Accordingly, both layout of the seat and sufficient vehicle body rigidity against a vehicle side crash can be provided.

A third row seat of a vehicle includes a seat back which can be folded down onto a seat cushion, and a headrest which can be pivoted rearward with respect to the seat back. The seat cushion is mounted on the vehicle floor so as to be pivotable rearward. A recess is formed in the floor of the vehicle behind the third row seat. The recess stores the third row seat, with the seat back being folded down, the headrest being pivoted rearward, and the third row seat being pivoted rearward. The headrest is located within a path of the pivotal motion of the seat back and the seat cushion, without increasing the path of the pivotal motion.

A seat belt system for a vehicle, for restraining an occupant in a seat disposed in a compartment of the vehicle. The vehicle comprises an opening formed on at least one side of the vehicular body, and a first door moving between a first state where the first door closes at least a part of the opening and a second state where the first door opens the opening. The seat belt system includes a belt webbing, a retractor disposed in the first door for retracting the proximal end of the belt webbing, and a sliding device fixed on a lower edge of the opening, to which the distal end of the belt webbing is attached. The sliding device permits the distal end of the belt webbing to slide along the lower edge of the opening between a forward position and a rearward position. The distal end of the belt webbing is located at the rearward position when the first door is in the second state.

Seat belt system for vehicles

A side door assembly in an automobile body structure for selectively opening and closing an access opening includes a generally rectangular double-walled door panel structure having a windowpane chamber and a windowpane slot both defined therein. A windowpane is supported for movement between elevated and lowered positions through the windowpane slot such that the windowpane in the lowered position can be substantially concealed within the windowpane chamber. The side door assembly also comprises a window sash mounted on the door panel structure so as to extend above the windowpane slot. This window sash has a front sash portion, a generally horizontally extending sash portion continued from the front sash portion and a generally upright rear sash portion continued from the horizontally extending sash portion. There is also provided a bezel mounted on the door panel structure at a location rearwardly of the upright sash portion and at a level above the waist level of an individual. A door handle is operatively supported by the bezel for pivotal movement between released and locked positions, and a weather strip is fitted to the horizontally extending sash portion and a rear edge of the bezel so as to continue from the horizontally extending sash portion down to a rear edge of the door panel structure by way of the rear edge of the bezel.

An arrangement for forming a roof structure of a vehicle body comprises a set of front and rear roof panel members disposed to face each other with an opening between, and a pair of roof rail members disposed at both sides of the front and rear roof panel members to extend in a direction of the length of the vehicle body respectively and face each other with the opening between. The roof rail members include inner and outer panels connected together and a connecting flange which projects laterally toward the inside of the vehicle body. A frame member is disposed to engage partially with the front and rear roof panels and the roof rail members so as to form a loop surrounding the opening. The frame member is provided with outer portions thereof fixed on the outer panels of the roof rail members and inner portions, fixed and supported partially by the connecting flange, for securing a pair of guide rail members, each extending along the roof rail members. A foldable canvas top is provided along with a plurality of sliding members each engaging with the guide rail members provided on the frame member and disposed for selectively covering or uncovering the opening.

Sliding-roof type sun-roof structure for automobile bodies comprising an opening formed in the roof panel and a sliding roof adapted for closing the opening. guide rail assembly is provided for guiding the sliding roof from the closing position to a retracted position wherein it is retracted under the roof panel. The guide rail assembly includes a front and rear sections which are connected in an articulated manner. The guide rail assembly is interconnected with the movement of the sliding roof so that it is downwardly bent at the articular connection when the sliding roof is being moved but maintained in a raised position when the sliding roof is in the closing and retracted positions so as to provide an increased overhead space.
