A challenge is to provide an art to identify mice as individuals from captured images of one or more mice that are doing activity in a predetermined activity range. An image processing device includes an image acquisition unit, a part extraction unit, and an individual identification unit. The image acquisition unit acquires a captured video of a state in which one or more animals are doing activity in a predetermined activity range. An outline detection unit extracts the outlines of the bodies of the one or more animals from each of multiple unit images included in the video. The individual identification unit analyzes the multiple outlines detected from each of the multiple unit images by the outline detection unit, in a time-series manner and identifies the one or more animals as individuals in each of the unit images on the basis of the analysis results. Thus, the challenge is solved.

Information processing device for identifying individual animals and activities in using outline detection

A method of manufacturing an optic transmission module assures a high reliability for the module by inspecting the character of a low bit error rate (BER) of the module quickly and accurately. The module is employed in an optical communication system (light transmission system) required to cope with information communication systems that are becoming faster and faster in operation and larger and larger in capacity. Also disclosed is a system and a method for inspection of the BER character which uses a rectangular wave pulse as an interference light to calculate a degradation quantity of a signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) on the basis of a simple theory, thereby inspecting the BER character by extrapolating a case in which there is no interference light (S/X&equals;&infin; or X&equals;0) with use of a sign error rate theoretical value according to a bit error rate of a light signal measured according to the degradation quantity.

Method for manufacturing optic transmission modules and system for inspecting bit error rate characters

A first cash register operating in a registration mode is connected by a communication line to a second cash register operating in a calculation mode to serve customers forming a waiting line extending from the first cash register to the second. Sales data are registered by the first cash register, with the data of an earliest one of the customers being displayed on a first display unit and the sales data of all the customers being stored sequentially into respective second storage areas when a communication line is busy. When the line becomes available, the sales data are transmitted to the second cash register from the second storage areas sequentially. The second cash register stores the transmitted sales data into third and fourth storage areas in succession and provides a simultaneous display of the sales data stored in the fourth storage areas on respective window areas of a second display unit. An adder sequentially calculates the sales data stored in the fourth storage areas in response to operation of a control key. Each cash register is operable independently in the registration and calculation modes.
