A sliding member composed of a molded resin composition containing at least synthetic resin, polyolefin resin, and oil. This composition allows a sliding resistance to be small and a small torque to be applied to a sliding bearing unit.

An optical pick-up comprising a supporting shaft and a lens holder having a bearing part which fits on the supporting shaft rotatably. At least one of the supporting shaft and the bearing part is formed of ceramics containing zirconia. The optical pick-up allows a lens to be supported at high dimensional accuracy for a high-density recording medium and suppresses resonance for a high-speed access to a disc.

A slide bearing, a slide bearing assembly and a small motor with a slide bearing assembly which are comparable to or even better than conventional sintered oil-impregnated bearings in mechanical strength, stability of friction coefficient, and which are small and lightweight. The bearing assembly includes a housing having a circular hole and a through hole for supporting a rotary shaft and integrally formed from a resin composition comprising 20-40% by weight of a synthetic resin such as polyphenylene sulfide, 20-60% by weight of an inorganic filler such as mica, 10-30% by weight of a fibrous reinforcing material such as carbon fiber, 3-7% by weight of a lubricating oil such as fatty acid ester oil, and 1-5% by weight of an oil retaining material such as talc. There is also provided a slide bearing formed from the same resin composition as above. There is also provided a small motor having the above slide bearing assembly, a stator carried by the housing of the bearing assembly, and a rotor having a rotary shaft supported by the slide bearing of the bearing assembly.

A dynamic pressure type bearing comprises a sleeve rotatably holding a shaft driven by a motor composed of a rotor and a stator, one or both of the sleeve and the shaft being made of a resin material. The sleeve and/or shaft of a resin material may have a thin film of oil or grease formed on the surface thereof. Preferably, the resin material has load flexible temperture of 120.degree. C. or more, modules of elasticity or bending of 10 GPa or more, and coefficient of linear expansion of 3.times.10.sup.-5 /.degree.C. or less.
