An image pick-up apparatus includes, an image pickup device having a plurality of pixels disposed with a predetermined distance therebetween to pick up an image on a photographic original with respect to a plurality of colors; an image forming device having an optical axis, to form the image of the photographic original onto the image pickup device; a pixel shifting device to shift a focal point of the image on the image pickup device by a distance shorter than a distance between the pixels of the image pickup device; a plurality of color filters having a plurality of colors different from each other; and a filter selector to select a color filter from the plurality of color filters and for disposing the color filter between the photographic original and the image pickup device. The image pick-up apparatus further includes a controller to control the image pickup device to pick up the image of the photographic original in a first condition that makes the pixel shifting device operative, and to pick up the image of the photographic original in a second condition that makes the pixel shifting device inoperative, at each time when the controller controls the filter selector to change a color filter to another color filter of the plurality of color filters.

Imaging apparatus including a pixel shifting means

An image input apparatus includes a picture-taking optical system, a facial imaging device, a transparent parallel flat plate member arranged in an optical path of the optical system approximately in parallel with a picture-taking surface of the imaging device, a tilting member to tilt the transparent member with respect to the imaging device so that the image formed on the imaging device is moved, a memory to store each image moved when the transparent member is tilted, and an image synthesizer to synthesize an image of high resolution from the image stored in the memory. Three points not aligned on a straight line are selected from the transparent member, and one point is used as a support point and other two points are used as operation points so that the tilting member is operated through these support and operation points.

Image input apparatus with two-dimensional pixel shift

An automatic focusing device for driving an optical system to focus on a subject. The device has a CCD to read an image of the subject, a driver for the CCD so that a first image signal is outputted from the CCD in a normal direction and a second image signal is outputted from the CCD in a reversal direction, the optical system to form the image on the CCD, and a controller to control the optical system in accordance with the first image signal and the second image signal so that the optical system forms the image on the CCD in focus.

Automatic focusing apparatus

An image reader for panning a camera view to a movable subject. The image reader has a CCD to scan an image in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction, and the CCD outputs image signals in a normal direction and a reversal direction. The image reader also has a circuit to determine a position of the movable suject according to the image signals in the normal direction and the reversal direction, and controls the camera view according to the position of the movable subject.
