A method for making calcium phosphate particles, the method including compressively pulverizing a molded body containing, as a principal component, a calcium phosphate material with a plurality of parallel extending needlelike projections. The molded body contains a plurality of void holes oriented in one direction and the pulverizing is carried out by moving the needlelike projections in a direction of protrusion, which is aligned with the one direction. Each needlelike projection has a diameter within a range of 1.0 to 2.0 mm and a number the needlelike projections per unitary surface area is within a range of 5 to 35 per cm.

Process for producing calcium phosphate-based particles

Provision of a porous ceramic material which rapidly induces bone tissue formation and has practical strength. A porous ceramic materialhaving substantially unidirectionally oriented pores, a porosity of 40-90%, and an average open area of one pore of 0.05&#xd7;10-50&#xd7;10mmboth in a first sectional surface perpendicular to the poreorientation direction and a second sectional surface parallel to the first sectional surface and 5 mm distant from the first sectional surface in the poreorientation direction. Using the material, when a cylindrical test piece (diameter 3 mm&#xd7;height 5 mm, the porearray direction as a height direction) made of the material is dipped in polyethylene glycol up to 1 mm from one end thereof, polyethylene glycol permeates through the whole test piece preferably within 30 seconds.

Porous ceramic material and method of producing the same

The invention relates to an ocular tissue regeneration inducer which comprises, as an active ingredient, a hydrophilic polymer mainly composed of alkylene glycol units or vinyl monomeric units having a nondissociating hydrophilic group. The composition can induce the regeneration of ocular tissues such as the cornea, the crystalline lens, and the vitreous body.
