An object of the present invention is to provide a biochemical instrument having a surface that can simultaneously inhibit adsorption of a biopolymer and that of a hydrophobic low-molecular-weight compound. The present invention provides a biochemical instrument comprising a region that inhibits adsorption of a hydrophobic low-molecular-weight compound and a region that inhibits adsorption of a biopolymer on the surface of a water-insoluble material.

Biochemical instrument having surface that inhibits nonspecific adsorption

A surface plasmon resonance measuring apparatus is provided with a dielectric block, a metal film formed on a surface of the dielectric block, a light source for emitting a light beam, an optical system for making the light beam enter the dielectric block at various angles of incidence so that a condition for total internal reflection is satisfied at an interface between the dielectric block and the thin film layer, and a photodetector for detecting the intensity of the light beam satisfying total internal reflection at the interface. In the measurement chip to be utilized in the surface plasmon resonance measuring apparatus, the dielectric block is formed from a synthetic resin in which, when said light beam is p-polarized outside said dielectric block and then strikes the interface, the intensity of a s-polarized component at the interface is 50% or less of the intensity of the light beam at the interface.

Surface plasmon resonance measuring chip and method of manufacture thereof

An adapter lens has a front plate, an optical member, a side plate, an upper plate and a rear plate. The adapter lens can be detachably attached to an upper left-hand corner of a body included in a camera. The adapter lens is mounted on the camera with the front plate, the side plate, the upper plate and the rear plate in contact with a part of the front surface around the objective lens, an upper part of the side surface near the corner of the body, a part of the upper surface near the corner of the body, and an upper part of the rear surface near the corner of the body, respectively. A screw is passed through a through hole formed in connecting part of the rear plate and screwed into a threaded hole formed in a boss formed integrally with the side plate to hold the body between the front plate and the rear plate.

Adapter lens

There is provided a lens adapter easily detachable to and from a case, with an optical component such as a filter, a conversion lens etc. attached without a dedicated member on a camera side for attaching. The lens adapter has an attachment section attached to the case of the camera, and a lens barrel housing section provided at the attachment section for housing a lens barrel. The attachment section has first and second members swingably engaging in a detachable manner and is attached to the case in a state that the first and second members sandwich the case in a direction from front to rear of the case. A metallic ring is embedded on a front end of a cylindrical wall section forming a lens barrel housing section. A female screw for attaching an optical component such as a filter, a conversion lens etc. is formed on an inner peripheral surface of the ring.

Lens adapter

The present invention is to provide a method and device for polishing a glass substrate, suitable for polishing a large-sized glass substrate. The device for polishing a substrate is adapted so that a substrate is attached to a film stretched on a frame; the frame is installed on a carrier; the carrier and a polishing surface-plate are brought closer relative to each other to polish a surface to be polished of the substrate attached to the film by pressing the substrate to the polishing surface-plate; the frame is removed from the carrier after the completion of the polishing, and the polished substrate is removed from the frame.

Method and apparatus for polishing a substrate

Disclosed herein is a measuring apparatus equipped with a plurality of measuring units. Each measuring unit includes a dielectric block, a thin film layer formed on the dielectric block, and a sample holding mechanism for holding a sample on the thin film layer. The measuring apparatus is further equipped with an optical system for making a light beam enter the dielectric block at an angle of incidence so that a total internal reflection condition is satisfied at an interface between the dielectric block and the thin film layer, and photodetectors for measuring the intensity of the light beam totally reflected at the interface. The optical system is constructed so that light beams simultaneously enter the dielectric blocks of the measuring units. The number of photodetectors corresponds to the number of the light beams.

The index finger of the right hand of the user is applied to a front surface of a fixed knob, the thumb of the right hand is applied to a rear surface of a movable knob, and the movable knob is slid by the thumb forwardly toward the fixed knob. When the movable knob is slid, a locking member moves forwardly in unison with the movable knob away from engaging surfaces of walls, whereupon opposite ends of the locking member disengage from the engaging surfaces of the walls. A buckle is now swingable out of a cavity about a pivot shaft. Then, the user grips the fixed knob and the movable knob and lifts the free end of the buckle to erect the buckle, and thereafter opens a front case member and a rear case member away from each other.

Water-resistant case for electronic devices

A plurality of measuring units each comprising a dielectric block, a metal film layer which is formed on a surface of the dielectric block and a sample holder are supported on a support. The support is moved by a support drive means to bring in sequence the measuring units to a measuring portion comprising an optical system which projects a light beam emitted from a light source, and a photodetector which detects attenuation in total internal reflection by detecting the intensity of the light beam which is reflected in total internal reflection at the interface between the dielectric block and the metal film layer. In this measuring apparatus, lots of samples can be measured in a short time.

Measuring method and apparatus using attenuation in total reflection

Continuous photo film includes a support of resin film having a back surface. A photosensitive layer of photographic emulsion is disposed on a surface of the support opposite to the back surface. A conveying roller conveys the continuous photo film. The conveying roller includes a roller body of metal. A hardness reinforcer layer is formed on a surface of the roller body by thermal spraying of ceramic or cermet, so that the roller body surface is prevented from being scratched or ground by the back surface of the film.
