Positioning means ( ) for positioning a recording medium at a predetermined position on a read mechanism of a device after the recording medium loaded into a loading opening ( ) has been transported to the read mechanism or a detector means for detecting that the recording medium has been positioned is provided pivotably about one end thereof inside the device. Recording medium read device

An optical pickup sending device comprises: an optical pickup for reading information from an information recording medium; a rack member provided in connection with the optical pickup; and a screwed shaft engaged with the rack member for sending the optical pickup along the screwed shaft. In particular, the rack member is formed with a plurality of curved teeth each having a radius of curvature larger than that of the screwed shaft.

A clamping device consists of a disk table for setting thereon a disk-like recording medium bearing recorded information, and a clamper which cooperates with the disk table to hold the recording medium therebetween. At least one of the disk table and the damper is formed of polypropylene at where to contact with the recording medium. If a special disk, which has a high-temperature softening film on its label surface, is clamped under high temperature conditions for a long time, and the film softens and thereafter re-solidifies as the temperature lowers, a smooth release of the recording medium is attained.
