A temperature sensor has a temperature sensitive element for detecting a temperature, a sheath pin having core wires electrically connected to the temperature sensitive element, lead wires to output a detection signal of the temperature sensitive element to an outside device, connectors through which the core wires and the lead wires are connected, and a protection tube accommodating the core wires, the lead wires and the connectors. The protection tube has a supporting member made of an elastic member having inserting and supporting holes through which the connectors are inserted and supported. Each connector has a circular arc part and claw parts. The circular arc part is made along a profile of a front end part of each lead wire. The claw parts are formed at both the end parts of the circular arc part. Each claw part pushes an inner wall surface of the corresponding inserting and supporting hole.

Temperature sensor

A gas sensor is disclosed which attains high response speed, low power consumption, superior water splash resistance and a little setting direction dependency and setting angle dependency. In this gas sensor, a measured gas room is provided inside an inner cover, and gas passage holes for leading a measured gas in are provided on side surfaces of the inner cover and an outer cover. The gas passage holes provided on the outer cover are positioned much closer to a top end side than the gas passage hole provided closest to the top end side in the inner cover. Partitions disposed extendedly in an axial direction of the gas sensor are provided between the outer cover and the inner cover.

Gas sensor

An improved structure of a gas sensor is provided. The gas sensor includes a hollow housing in which a gas sensing element is disposed, a protective cover installed on an end of the housing, a metallic cover installed on the other end of the housing, and an insulator in which end portions of leads connecting with the gas sensing element are disposed. The insulator is retained at a flange thereof in the housing elastically using a washer. The protective cover is welded at an end thereof to the whole circumference of the end of the housing.

Compact structure of gas sensor and production method thereof

An improved structure of a gas sensor designed to withstand physical impact which may result in damage such as cracks to a sensor element built in the gas sensor. Specifically, the gas sensor includes a buffer provided by a clearance between an air cover a porcelain insulator. The clearance is in a range of 1 to 2.5 mm at a minimum. The gas sensor may alternatively have a harder portion in the air cover which has a Vickers hardness of 200 to 400. The gas sensor may alternatively have a rigidity enhancer in the air cover which works to provides an increased rigidity to the air cover.

Structure of gas sensor designed to reduce mechanical damage to sensor element

An improved structure of a gas sensor is provided which is designed to provide for firm installation of the protective cover assembly on a cover mount of a housing. The cover assembly made up of an outer cylindrical cover and an inner cylindrical cover each of which includes an open end portion and a body portion. The body portion of the inner cylindrical cover is disposed within the body portion of the outer cylindrical cover in a non-contact fashion. The open end portion of at least one of the outer and inner cylindrical covers has a shoulder which is placed in line contact with the open end portion of the other cylindrical cover to secure portions of the outer and inner cylindrical covers installed on an end side wall of the housing.

Gas sensor having improved structure for installation of protective cover

An insulator, airtightly supported via an annular metallic packing on a cylindrical housing, has a small-diameter portion and a large-diameter portion. A tapered surface extends in a radially outer direction from a small-diameter cylindrical surface to a large-diameter cylindrical surface. A receiving surface, formed on an inside wall of the housing, supports the tapered surface via the metallic packing. The tapered surface is brought into line contact with the metallic packing at its outer or inner circumferential portion.

An improved structure of a gas sensor made up of a sensor element and a first and a second hollow cylindrical porcelain insulators covering the sensor element. The first porcelain insulator is laid on the second porcelain insulator in alignment within a body of the gas sensor. A positioning mechanism is provided which works to establish and keep alignment of the first and second porcelain insulators, thereby avoiding undesirable inclination of the first and second porcelain insulators which may cause damage to the sensor element.

An improved structure of a gas sensor is provided which is designed to establish firm electric connections between electrode terminals formed on opposed major surfaces of a sensor element and terminals of a connector disposed within a body of the gas sensor leading to an external devices. The connector includes two arrays of terminals. Each of the terminals has a contact elastically deformable at least in a direction perpendicular to the opposed major surfaces of the sensor element for keeping the electric connections of the electrode terminals and the terminals of the connector constant.

Gas sensor having improved structure of electric connector

A gas sensor is provided which includes a first cylindrical insulation porcelain having a gas sensor element installed therein and a second cylindrical insulation porcelain disposed in contact with the first insulation porcelain. The first insulation porcelain is disposed on a seat surface formed on an inner wall of a housing through a packing ring. A contact between the first and second insulation porcelains being located within a contact permissible range defined by projecting outer and inner edges of the packing ring onto an end surface of the first insulation porcelain, thereby minimizing a lateral shift between the contact and the packing ring to avoid the breakage of the first insulation porcelain during assembly or use of the gas sensor.

An oxygen concentration detector comprises a solid electrolyte , a sensing element which consists of the solid electrolyte coated on the surface with an outer electrode , a heater provided inside the solid electrolyte , and a protecting cover which protects the sensing element . The protecting cover has two levels of openings , the outer electrode is constructed within the range defined by the length of the heat-generating part of the heater , and the relationship between the length L of the heat-generating part and the distance between the openings L of the two levels of openings in the axial direction is such that L /L &equals;0.9 to 1.3.

Oxygen concentration detector

An improved structure of a gas sensor is provided which includes a hollow housing and a sensing element. The sensing element has a flange and is disposed within the housing in engagement of the flange with an inner wall of the housing. An insulating powder is packed in a chamber defined by the inner wall of the housing, the flange and an outer wall of the sensing element to provide an air-tight seal between an air chamber to which one end of the sensing element is exposed and a gas chamber to which the other end of the sensing element is exposed. The air-tight seal has the structure designed to minimize an air leakage and breakage of the sensing element when installed in the housing.

Gas sensor having improved structure

A gas sensor has a housing integrally formed with a caulked fixation portion. A detection element is inserted into the housing and fixed therein by caulking the caulked fixation portion via a sealing member such as a metallic ring. The caulked fixation portion is composed of a caulked portion and a buckling portion, and satisfies dimensional relationships of T,<T,<T,; 2<T,/T,, and 3<L/&lcub;(T,&plus;T,)/2&rcub;. T,is a minimum thickness of the caulked portion, and T,is a maximum thickness of the caulked portion. T,is an average thickness of the buckling portion, and L is a length of the caulked portion in an axial direction of the gas sensor.
