A vehicle control device of embodiments includes a recognizer configured to recognize a surrounding status of a vehicle, a driving controller configured to control one or both of steering and acceleration or deceleration of the vehicle on the basis of the surrounding status recognized by the recognizer or map information, a storage configured to store images of the surroundings of the vehicle captured by a peripheral camera mounted on the vehicle; and a storage controller configured to control the storage. The driving controller causes the vehicle to travel in one of a plurality of driving modes including a first driving mode and a second driving mode in which a task imposed on an occupant of the vehicle is greater than that in the first driving mode. The driving controller causes the vehicle to travel by switching from the first driving mode to the second driving mode when an abnormality has occurred in one or both of the peripheral camera and the storage in the first driving mode, and continues the second driving mode when an abnormality has occurred in one or both of the peripheral camera and the storage in the second driving mode.

A rod-shaped light guide which does not cause unevenness in color at the portion near an incident face is produced by injection-molding transparent resin such as acryl and its surfaces include a light-emitting surface, a bottom face, left and right sides and end faces. One end face opposes a light emitting unit, and light scattering patterns for scattering light incident from the end face are formed on the bottom face. The light scattering patterns are different in shape between a portion near the end face as the incident face and a portion away from the end face. The light scattering patterns formed at the portion near the incident face are composed of a large number of fine hemispherical concaves, whereas the light scattering patterns at the portion away from the incident face are composed of triangular grooves or half cylindrical grooves, and the axial direction of these triangular grooves or half cylindrical grooves coincides with the width direction (sub-scanning direction) of the bottom face on which the patterns are formed.

An improved illumination device shortens a redundant area of insufficient light intensity close to a longitudinal end thereof. The device includes a casing, a bar-shaped light guide housed in the casing to cause a light-emitting surface thereof to be exposed, a light-emitting unit secured to an end section of the casing, wherein light from the light-emitting unit is introduced into the bar-shaped light guide through the end face thereof and is totally reflected within the bar-shaped light guide to be emitted through the light-emitting surface, and a shielding section provided to cover an end section of the bar-shaped light guide including the redundant area at the end section of the casing close to the light-emitting unit. A notch is formed at the end section of the bar-shaped light guide on the light-emitting surface side close to the light-emitting unit, and light from the light-emitting unit is reflected on a rear surface of the shielding section through a gap between this notch and the light-emitting unit to be introduced into the bar-shaped light guide.

Illumination device and image scanning device

A line-illuminating device which is resistant to shrinkage problems caused by repetition of heating and cooling includes a white casing made of polycarbonate or the like, a light guide made of an acrylic resin or the like and accommodated in the casing such that the light-emitting surface thereof is exposed, and light-emitting elements (for example, light-emitting diodes) as a light source provided on both ends of the casing so as to abut against the end surfaces of the light guide without a gap. The casing is divided into two portions in the longitudinal direction, and a gap is formed between the two divided portions. With this gap, even if the light guide shrinks due to repetition of heating and cooling, the divided portions can effectively shrink together with the light guide via the gap, and the abutting state between the end surface of the light guide and the light-emitting element can be maintained.

A lens arrayis formed as an erect 1:1 imaging lens by superimposing two lens platesandtogether. Each lens plateconsists of a number of micro lenseswhich are regularly provided at a predetermined pitch and in a two-dimensional manner. This lens plateis for example made by press molding the ultraviolet curing resin in a soft condition using a transparent mold and by irradiating the ultraviolet light on the ultraviolet curing resin from outside for hardening. Since the lens arrayis provided with micro lensesin rows in a sub-scanning direction, deterioration of an amount of light level resulting from the displacement between a light axis of the lens and an image sensoris not generated.

A light guideof a rectangular cross-section has side facesincluding short sides in the longitudinal direction of which one side faceis provided with a light-scattering pattern, formed by screen-printing in white paint, for scattering the light incident to the light guide. The other side facefacing the side faceis exposed from a casingto serve as a light-emitting surface. In the present embodiment, it is possible to secure a sufficient amount of light because the whole area of the side face is used as the light-emitting surface. The remaining side facesof the light guideare side faces including the long sides. Since the side faceseasily produce a surface sink during molding, neither the light-scattering patternnor the light-emitting surface is provided thereon.

Line-illuminating device and image sensor

The present invention provides a light guide, a line-illuminating device, and an image-scanning device that provide excellent uniformity in the amount of light produced. A light-reflecting portion comprised of spherical concave surfaces becomes a reflecting surface having spherical convex surfaces when it is seen from the inside of the light guide. Even when the incident angle of light from the light source unit is slightly offset, the reflection angle in spherical convex surfaces significantly changes, and light is reflected uniformly toward the upper surface serving as a light-emitting surface. In particular, when the fine spherical concave portions of the light-reflecting portion have a small depth, the incident light from the end surface is reflected toward the upper surface, serving as a light-emitting surface, and both side surfaces without reflecting back to the light-emitting unit side, so that uniform reflection can be achieved.

Light guide, line-illuminating device, and image-scanning device

A light guide, a line-illuminating device, and an image-scanning device are provided which are excellent in uniformity of the light amount. A light-reflecting portion comprised of tubular concave surfaces becomes a reflecting surface having tubular convex surfaces when seen from the inside of the light guide. With such structure, even when the incident angle of light from a light source unit slightly displaces, the reflection angle in the tubular convex surfaces significantly changes. In an irregular surface having a triangular shape, as in a conventional example, the incident angle becomes almost uniform in the area far from the light source unit, and thereby the reflection angle also becomes uniform. Consequently, it is difficult to achieve uniform reflection in the main-scanning direction. However, with the tubular concave surfaces, light is reflected uniformly toward the upper surface as a light-emitting surface.

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an erect image, unity magnification, resin lens array by injection molding. Two injection-molded lens plates are stacked such that convexly warped sides thereof face each other or such that a convexly warped side of the lens plate whose warp is greater than that of the other lens plate faces a concavely warped side of the other lens plate, while directions of resin injection thereof are aligned so as to optically avoid the influence of molding shrinkage. Engagement spigots and engagement sockets are employed in order to align the two lens plates. The two stacked lens plates are secured by clipping of peripheral portions thereof.

Method for manufacturing an erect image, unity magnification, resin lens array

A large number of microscopic recess portions are formed on a surface of a glass substrate in a single dimension or two dimensions by conducting a wet etching through a mask. The large number of microscopic recess portions are aligned densely by again conducting the wet etching but not through the mask. A separating agent is applied upon the surface of the glass substrate and a light-curable or heat-curable resin material of high refractive index is applied thereon. The high refractive index resin material is cured, after piling a first glass substrate upon the high refractive index resin material so as to extend the high refractive index resin material thereon. The high refractive index resin material which is cured and the first glass substrate are separated from the glass substrate, and a low refractive index resin material is applied on the high refractive index resin material which is cured on the first glass substrate. The low refractive index resin material is cured, after piling a second glass substrate on the low refractive index resin material so as to extend the low refractive index resin material thereon.
