A system having ring generation device being configured for phase inverted synchronous operation with a primary converter device. The primary converter device is operable to supply power to at least one device. The primary converter device produces a first electromagnetic interference during operation. The ring generation device produces a second electromagnetic interference that cancels the first electromagnetic interference. The primary converter device and the ring generator device are synchronized and operate in an inverse phase with each other to generally cancel the electro-magnetic interference signal created by the primary converter device. A ring generation charging switch and a ring generation discharging switch generally turns on and off alternately which matches a charging and discharging of a primary switching node.

Apparatus and system for noise cancellation of power converters

A system having a noise cancellation converter being configured for phase inverted synchronous operation with a primary converter. The primary converter is operable to supply power to at least one device. The primary converter produces a first electromagnetic interference during operation. The noise cancellation converter is further configured with parasitic components matching parasitic components of the primary converter. The noise cancellation converter produces a second electromagnetic interference that is coupleable to the device. The second electromagnetic interference comprises frequency components having an inverted phase relative to frequency components of the first electromagnetic interference for reducing a sum of the first electromagnetic interference and the second electromagnetic interference during coupling to the device. An RC network component is configured to operatively connect the primary converter and the noise cancellation converter being operable to cancel out the sum of the electro-magnetic interference signals.

An apparatus and system comprise a noise cancelation power converter being configured for phase inverted synchronous operation with respect to a primary power converter. The primary power converter is operable to supply power to at least one device. The primary power converter produces a first electromagnetic interference during operation to supply the power. The first electromagnetic interference is coupleable to the device. The noise cancelation power converter further is configured with parasitic components substantially matching parasitic components of the primary power converter. The noise cancelation power converter further produces a second electromagnetic interference that is coupleable to the device. The second electromagnetic interference comprises frequency components having an inverted phase relative to frequency components of the first electromagnetic interference for substantially reducing a sum of the first electromagnetic interference and the second electromagnetic interference during coupling to the device.

A computing device including a power connector to interface with a power source, logic and power components on a current path from the power connector; the power connector providing electrical power to the logic and power components, and an inrush protection circuit on the current path between the power connector and the logic and power components, the inrush protection circuit including: a first power dissipation device and a second power dissipation device arranged in parallel on the current path, a feedback loop to detect an amount of current in the current path and to control the first power dissipation device to operate in a manner to dissipate detected inrush current, and a first time delay network in communication with the second power dissipation device and causing a delay for the second power dissipation device to transition to an on state, wherein during steady state.

Systems and methods providing current protection to an electronic system

Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods of controlling power in battery operated systems. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a switching regulator for boosting voltage on a depleted battery to power up a system. The system may communicate with an external system to increase the current received from the external system. Embodiments of the present invention include circuits for controlling power received from external power sources such as a USB power source. In another embodiment, input-output control techniques are disclosed for controlling the delivery of power to a system or charging a system battery, or both, from an external power source.

Circuits and methods for controlling power in a battery operated system

Embodiments of the present invention include techniques for charging a battery using a regulator. In one embodiment, the present invention includes an electronic circuit comprising a regulator having an input coupled to a power source for receiving a voltage and a current and an output for providing an output current, an input voltage detection circuit coupled to the power source, and an adjustable current limit circuit for controlling the input or output current of the regulator, wherein input voltage detection circuit monitors the voltage from the power source and the adjustable current limit circuit changes the input or output current of the regulator to optimize the power drawn from power source.

Battery charging systems and methods with adjustable current limit

In one embodiment the present invention includes an over-current protection method. The method comprises generating a switching signal, starting and stopping a timer, sensing a current through a switch, comparing a response time to a reference time, and generating an over-current alarm signal. The switching signal activates one or more switches in a switching regulator. The timer is started in response to the switch being activated and is stopped in response to the sensed current exceeding a threshold. The response time indicates the time period between the starting and the stopping of the timer. The over-current alarm signal is generated if the response time is less than the reference time.

Method and circuit for over-current protection

Embodiments of the present invention include techniques for charging a battery. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method comprising determining if a maximum current output of a power source is above a threshold, configuring a regulator coupled to the power source, wherein the regulator is configured in a pass mode if the maximum current output is above the threshold, and wherein the regulator is configured in a regulation mode if the maximum current output is below the threshold, and generating pulses to a battery, wherein an output of the regulator is coupled to the battery when a pulse is being generated, and the output of the regulator is decoupled from the battery when a pulse is not being generated. In other embodiments, the techniques may be embodied in a circuit including a detection circuit and a switching regulator coupled to a battery through a pulse circuit.

Systems and methods for pulse charging a battery

An apparatus and method for regulating a voltage to a load to compensate for one or more parasitic impedances. A first amplifier measures the voltage drop due to a first parasitic impedance, and a second amplifier measures the voltage drop due to a second parasitic impedance. An offset generator sums the first and second voltage drops with a reference voltage, and drives a DC-to-DC converter to produce an input voltage matching the summed voltages. Accordingly, the voltage at a load between the parasitic impedances matches the reference voltage. The load may be, for example, a computer microprocessor or central processing unit.
