An ignition coil, including: a center core; a primary coil wound around the center core; a secondary coil wound around the primary coil; a side core, which is arranged around the secondary coil, and is coupled to the center core to from a closed magnetic path; a case configured to accommodate the center core, the primary coil, the secondary coil, and the side core; and an insulating resin filled in the case, wherein the side core includes a wide portion having a larger width in a direction from the center core to the side core, and a narrow portion having a smaller width than the wide portion, and wherein the narrow portion is formed on a high-voltage side of the side core.

Ignition coil

An ignition coil includes: a center core; a primary coil wound around the center core; a secondary coil wound around the primary coil; a plurality of side cores, which are arranged around the secondary coil, and are coupled to the center core to form a closed magnetic path; a magnet inserted between the plurality of side cores; an igniter configured to control supply and interruption of a current to the primary coil; a case configured to accommodate the center core, the primary coil, the secondary coil, the plurality of side cores, the magnet, and the igniter; and insulating resin filled in the case. The side cores include a wide portion and a narrow portion. The magnet is inserted into the wide portion. The igniter is arranged between the narrow portion and the case.

Obtain an ignition coil in which a magnet is provided at a magnet holding portion which is formed between a first side iron core and a second side iron core, and intervening components which are configured by using a non-magnetic material, are included at facing portions which are provided at end portions of separated surfaces of the first side iron core and separated surfaces of the second side iron core, in a state where the magnet holding portion is formed by using the first side iron core and the second side iron core, and are faced at a surface which is vertical with respect to an axis direction of the side iron cores, and the intervening components have a thickness which is less than a distance between the separated surfaces of the first side iron core and the separated surfaces of the second side iron core.

An internal combustion engine ignition device comprises: a center core; a primary coil wound on the outside of the center core; a secondary coil wound on the outside of the primary coil; a permanent magnet which abuts against one end of the center core and is magnetized in the inverse direction to the direction of a magnetic flux produced by the energization of the primary coil; a side core which is disposed on the outside of the secondary coil with one end abutted against the permanent magnet and the other end abutted against the center core, the side core cooperating with the permanent magnet to form a closed magnetic path; and a heat-resistant and elastic resin covering the side core with an opening at an outer peripheral side. Heat dissipation from the side core to a housing is improved without adversely affecting the dielectric strength voltage of the secondary coil.

Internal combustion engine ignition device

An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine includes: a center core arranged on an inner side of a primary coil and an inner side of a secondary coil; a side core arranged on an outer side of the primary coil and an outer side of the secondary coil, and combined with the center core to form a closed magnetic circuit; one or a plurality of gaps provided between the center core and the side core, or in the side core; and a magnet arranged in each of the one or a plurality of gaps, in which a sum of cross-sectional areas of the respective magnets is set to be three times or more and less than seven times of a cross-sectional area of the center core.

A current flowing in a sub-primary coil can be limited in an ignition apparatus in which a voltage, generated in a secondary coil at a timing when a current in a main primary coil is cut off, generates a secondary current, and then the sub-primary coil is energized so that a superimposition current is generated in the secondary coil and in which a sub-IC connected in series with the sub-primary coil is pulse-controlled so that a current flowing in the sub-primary coil is controlled and hence the superimposition current is controlled.

An ignition coil for internal combustion engine includes: a center core disposed on an inner side of a primary coil and a secondary coil and a side core disposed on an outer side of the primary and secondary coils whose one end face abuts on one end face of the center core and the other end face abuts on the other end face of the center core via a magnet. The side core is formed of a plurality of side core portions obtained by dividing laminated magnetic steel plates at different positions in a longitudinal direction thereof and has a superimposed portion in which the magnetic steel plates of the adjacent side core portions mutually superimpose between the different positions in the longitudinal direction. It thus becomes possible to provide an ignition coil for internal combustion engine capable of suppressing an increase of magnetic circuit resistance markedly without deteriorating assembly workability.

An ignition coil device according to the present invention is provided with a primary coil to which a primary current is applied; a secondary coil that is magnetically coupled with the primary coil and generates an ignition voltage when the primary current is cut off, so as to produce a spark discharge between a pair of electrodes of an ignition plug; a noise suppression element electrically connected between the secondary coil and one of the electrodes of the ignition plug; and a case made of an insulating material having a noise suppression element containing unit. The device is characterized by including ribs disposed in the noise suppression element containing unit and arranged in such a way as to face the outer circumferential surface of the noise suppression element and a resin insulating material that is filled into the containing unit and makes contact with the ribs and the noise suppression element.

Internal combustion engine ignition coil device

In an ignition coil device mainly mounted in an internal combustion engine, the installation can be improved even in an ignition coil having a bent leading end. The ignition coil device of a bent type includes a case having a transformer structure with a primary coil and a secondary coil therein; a high voltage tower including a high voltage terminal that transmits a high voltage developed in the secondary coil to a lower portion of the case; and a plug boot that electrically and mechanically connects the high voltage terminal, the high voltage tower to an ignition plug, includes a boot base close to the high voltage tower and a boot leading end close to the ignition plug in which a center axis of the high voltage tower and a center axis of the boot leading end are tilted, wherein a bend position is set in the vicinity of an intersection point of the center axis of the high voltage tower and the center axis of the boot leading end, and a rigid intermediate member including a connection relay member that electrically connects the high voltage terminal and the ignition plug is provided, and the rigid intermediate member extends from the boot base to the bend position.

Ignition coil device

An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine can increase a contact area between an end of a GND line terminal and a bolt thereby to reduce the contact resistance therebetween. In the ignition coil, a GND potential is ensured by the GND line terminal that is electrically connected at one end thereof to an igniter and at the other end thereof to the internal combustion engine through a bolt inserted into a bolt insertion hole formed in a mounting flange. The GND line terminal is formed at the other end thereof with a bearing surface portion having a hole into which the bolt is inserted. At least part of an inner diameter of the hole in the bearing surface portion is smaller than an inner diameter of the bolt insertion hole.

An ignition apparatus for an internal combustion engine is small in size and has high reliability capable of withstanding or enduring a vibration environment of a vehicle to which the ignition apparatus is installed. The ignition apparatus includes a spark plug that has its tip end portion presented in the interior of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine main body, a high voltage generation power supply that serves to apply a high voltage to the spark plug, a microwave oscillation device that has an amplifying element for generating a microwave, and a microwave antenna that is mounted on the spark plug, irradiates the micro wave generated from the microwave oscillation device to the interior of the cylinder, thereby forming a plasma generation region around discharge electrodes of the spark plug. The microwave oscillation device is made into a solid state.

Ignition apparatus for an internal combustion engine

An ignition coil apparatus for an internal combustion engine can be produced at low cost with a simple structure, and can be inserted into a bent plug hole without impairing insertability thereof. The apparatus is provided with a high voltage tower () that holds a high voltage terminal () in its interior, and a cylindrical plug boot () that has electrical insulation and flexibility and is attached at its one end to the high voltage tower (). The plug bootis installed on a main body of the internal combustion engine by being inserted into the bent plug hole. The plug boot () has a thin wall part () of a thin thickness formed at a location facing in opposition to a bent portion of the plug hole.
