[Object] [Means for Solving Problem] A method for manufacturing of a semiconductor light emitting element has; forming a semiconductor layer laminated of a first conductivity type semiconductor layer, a light emitting layer and a second conductivity type semiconductor layer, in this order, forming an electrode including a silver-containing layer in contact with an upper surface of the second conductivity type semiconductor layer, forming an insulating layer coating over at least a side surface of the silver-containing layer from the upper surface of the second conductivity type semiconductor layer by an atomic layer deposition method.

Semiconductor light emitting element and method for manufacturing the same

There is provided a semiconductor element including a semiconductor layer, a translucent electrode which is formed on the semiconductor layer, and a pad electrode which is formed on the translucent electrode, wherein the translucent electrode includes a recessed part on which the pad electrode is mounted, and wherein a thickness of a bottom surface of the recessed part of the translucent electrode is more than 0% of and equal to or less than 70% of a thickness of a part of the translucent electrode other than the recessed part.

Semiconductor element

A method for manufacturing a semiconductor light emitting element from a wafer in which a gallium nitride compound semiconductor has been laminated on a sapphire substrate having an orientation flat, comprises of: laminating a semiconductor layer on a first main face of the sapphire substrate having an off angle &#x3b8; in a direction Xo parallel to the orientation flat; forming a first break groove that extends in a direction Y substantially perpendicular to the direction Xo, on the semiconductor layer side; forming a second break line that is shifted by a predetermined distance in the &#xb1;Xo direction from a predicted split line within the first break groove and parallel to the first break groove in the interior of the sapphire substrate and corresponding to the inclination of the off angle &#x3b8;; and splitting the wafer along the first and/or second break line.

To minimize the variability in the emitted light color and improve the unevenness of color tone, a light emitting device comprises a light emitting element and a fluorescent substance that is excited by the light emitting element, wherein the light emitting element has an emission spectrum in a region from ultraviolet to visible light of short wavelengths, and the fluorescent substance has an emission spectrum that includes two or more emission peaks with at least two peaks of the two or more peaks being in the relation of complementary colors of each other.

A nitride semiconductor light emitting element is provided with: a substratehaving a pair of main surfaces that face each other; a nitride semiconductor layer of a first conductivity type layered on one of the main surfaces of substrate; a nitride semiconductor layer of a second conductivity type layered on the nitride semiconductor layer of the first conductivity type; an active layerformed between the nitride semiconductor layer of the first conductivity type and the nitride semiconductor layer of the second conductivity type; and a reflective layerformed on the nitride semiconductor layer of the second conductivity type for reflecting light from active layertoward the nitride semiconductor layer of the second conductivity type. This nitride semiconductor light emitting element can be mounted on a circuit board, with the other main surface of the above described substratebeing used as the main light emitting surface. Furthermore, a translucent conductive layeris formed between reflective layerand the nitride semiconductor layer of the second conductivity type, and an uneven interfaceis formed as the interface between translucent conductive layerand reflective layer
