The present invention provides an improved method of mounting an assist grip to a body panel and related mounting structure elements that provide a removable attachment between the assist grip and the body panel and that simplify the manufacture of the body panel as well as the assembly and disassembly of the assist grip to the body panel.

Method of mounting assist grip and mounting structure thereof

An attachment portion is formed of a synthetic resin material integrally with both ends of a grip body formed of a synthetic resin. A pair of concave portions opposed to each other are provided on an outer peripheral surface of a resin layer forming a hollow portion provided through gas injection in an almost central part in longitudinal direction of the grip body, thereby reducing a volume of the hollow portion and increasing a thickness of the resin layer to enhance a rigidity.

A claw portions are protruded inwardly from a first and second side surface portions of a cover for covering a bridge portion so as to be inclined toward a bottom portion at an acute angle with respect to a normal respectively, and are engaged with engagement holes of the bridge portion and are held and fixed thereto respectively, and the cover is fixed to the bridge portion such that an opening faces opposite to a vehicle compartment.
