A motor vehicle armrest includes an armrest body that is disposed on at least one side in a vehicle-width direction of a seat cushion so as to support of an arm of an occupant. The armrest body has an inflation portion that is inflated toward the occupant in the vehicle-width direction so as to support the occupant in the vehicle-width direction.

Tether clip locks garnish to vehicle body pillar, and when airbag body expands, tether clip releases garnish from vehicle body pillar without breaking garnish and prevents flying of garnish. Tether clip covers, from vehicle interior side, vehicle body pillar in which airbag body is housed, wherein tether clip locks garnish to vehicle body pillar. Tether clip includes: inner locking portion locked to pillar garnish; outer locking portion locked to vehicle body pillar; connecting portion for connecting inner locking portion and outer locking portion; and wire for tethering inner locking portion and outer locking portion to each other, wherein connecting portion is formed fragile against pressing force that is generated when airbag body presses garnish by expanding and developing, and wherein wire is wound around either inner locking portion or outer locking portion in direction around axis extending from inner locking portion to outer locking portion.

Tether clip

An airbag device for a vehicle including an inflator that generates high-pressure gas upon receiving an impact; and an airbag that deploys between an occupant and a vehicle body side portion from a folded state upon receiving the high-pressure gas from the inflator, wherein the airbag has a deployment restriction member that restricts the height of the airbag in the vehicle body vertical direction during deployment.

Airbag device for vehicle

An airbag apparatus equipped with an airbag, a garnish, a hinge, a protector and a bracket fixed to a vehicle body. An upper side of the garnish is supported by the bracket via the hinge. An engaging part protruding from the lower part of a garnish main part is engaged with an engagement receiving part disposed at the protector. Normally, the engaging part is engaged with the engagement receiving part, thereby retaining the shape of the garnish. On expansion of the airbag, the airbag presses the engaging part, by which the engaging part is disengaged from the engagement receiving part, and the garnish is opened smoothly. The airbag can be covered with the garnish, thereby allowing the garnish to move smoothly on expansion of the airbag.

Seat for vehicle use

A gas generated by an inflator is supplied through a branching pipe to first and second air bags, which are deployed from a side of a seat to a space between an inner surface of a side of a vehicle compartment and an occupant. A one-way valve mounted in the branching pipe permits the gas to move from the second air bag to the first air bag and inhibits a back flow of the gas, whereby the internal pressure in the first air bag can be maintained higher than that in the second air bag, to thereby restrain the occupant's waist more strongly than the occupant's breast. Moreover, the gas generated by the single inflator is diverted by the branching pipe and supplied to the two air bags. Therefore, the two air bags can be deployed while minimizing the number of the inflator.

Side air bag device

A side airbag apparatus, which deploys an airbag between an occupant of a vehicle and a sidewall of said vehicle in order to protect the occupant in the event of side collision of the vehicle, includes a lower air bag unit and a control unit. The lower airbag unit has a waist airbag, which deploys toward the hip of the occupant M and pushes the hip of the occupant M in the direction opposite to the sidewall, an inflator, which generates gas for inflating the waist airbag and supplies gas to the waist airbag, and a module case, which stores the waist airbag and inflator therein. The control unit ignites the inflator in order to generate gas when an acceleration of greater than a prescribed value is detected.

Side airbag apparatus

A side airbag apparatus, which deploys an airbag between an occupant of a vehicle and a sidewall of the vehicle in order to protect the occupant in the event of side collision of the vehicle. This side airbag apparatus has a first airbag and a second airbag. The first airbag has a tube-like shape, and one end of the first airbag is fixed at a seat back of a seat of the vehicle and the other end of the first airbag is fixed at a seat cushion of the seat. The second airbag has a tube-like shape, and one end of the second airbag is fixed at the seat back and the other end of the second airbag is fixed at the seat cushion. In this side airbag apparatus, the position of one end of the second airbag is higher than the position of one end of the first airbag.

An air bag device includes an air bag which is accommodated in a folded state along sides of a seat back and a seat cushion of a seat for an occupant. Upon side collision of a vehicle, the air bag is expanded by a gas generated by an inflator and deployed between an inner surface of a side of a vehicle compartment and an occupant. The air bag is disposed outside a lap belt of a seat belt device, and hence is deployed from the sides of the seat back and the seat cushion, so that a shock-absorbing effect can be effectively exhibited.

An air bag device includes an inflater having a retainer retained thereon and being inserted into a folded air bag through a slit defined in the air bag and then, a protector sheet is wound around an outer periphery of the folded air bag. The air bag device is secured by a bolt inserted through the superposed retainer, air bag and protector sheet and fastened by a nut. The slit in the air bag is covered with the protector sheet and closed thereby, whereby the slit can be closed without provision of a special closing member to prevent leakage of a high-pressure gas from the inflater.

Air bag device

An air bag, formed by sewing two basic fabrics at a sewing portion, is accommodated within a module case in a state in which the air bag has been fixed to a holder of an inflater at rear-side base portions and folded up into a bellows-like shape at a front-side foldable portions. The base portion of the left basic fabric, which is remote from a center pillar and a front door of a vehicle, has a section between two points b and c, which defines a surplus section. When the foldable portions of the air bag are expanded, the foldable portions can be moved toward an inner surface of a side of the vehicle body by the surplus section b and c and hence, the air bag can be deployed obliquely forwardly to reliably penetrate into a space between the center pillar, as well as the front door, and an occupant.

Seat mounted side air bag

A module case having an air bag module accommodated therein is disposed in a side face of a seat back, so that a lid of the module case is opened by a pressure of an air bag expanded upon a side collision of a vehicle, and the air bag is deployed through the resulting opening, termed the &ldquo;primary&rdquo; opening into a vehicle compartment. As a result of a tear line provided in the module case, even if the lid is held down by the door which has been deformed by a shock resulting from the collision, so that the lid cannot be opened to provide the primary opening, the tear line in a case body of the module case is broken, whereby a front wall is pivoted forwardly to form an alternate or &ldquo;secondary&rdquo; opening from the module case. Therefore, the air bag can be deployed without hindrance through the alternate secondary opening defined in the front wall of the module case into the vehicle compartment.

Side-collision air bag device

A side impact air bag apparatus located in a seat back of a vehicle for directly initiating an air bag longitudinally before completely inflating the bag in the width direction. The side impact air bag has a casing with an interior, a support for an inflator and a bag enclosing the inflator. The bag is capable of direct inflation longitudinally before completely inflating in the width direction. The bag is arranged inside the casing to have, a forward middle portion associated with the inflator, a right base cloth portion extending from the right of the forward middle portion and having first angled bellow folds of cloth, a left base cloth portion extending from the left of the forward middle portion and having second angled bellow folds of cloth, and an interior gas flow passage extending between the forward middle portion and the inflator, such that gas generated by the inflator easily reaches the forward middle portion through the interior gas flow passage and pushes the forward middle portion out in a longitudinal direction before the first bellow folds and the second bellow folds are inflated.
