A device for setting various operational parameters of combination weighing machine, such as target weight, speed of operation, name of product, allowable range of weight, hopper gate opening time and feed conveyor operation time. In this device, it is only necessary to manually register some independent operational parameters such as target weight and speed of operation from a keyboard and, then, the remaining dependent operational parameters such as hopper gate opening time and conveyor operation time can be registered automatically in accordance with the previously registered independent operational parameters.

In a combination weighing machine comprising a pluality of weighing units and a plurality of product feeders for feeding product to the respective weighing units, a device for controlling the amount of product fed to each weighing unit based upon the deviation of the weight data from each weighing unit from a predetermined target weight for each feeder. The method of delivering quantities of product measured by weight with each quantity being of an acceptable weight relative to a reference weight, utilizing a set of weighing devices each adapted to weigh a fraction of said quantity and each adapted for unloading of product therefrom to contribute to a delivery. The method comprises the steps of making a combination search to select a combination of the weighing devices to be unloaded to deliver said acceptable weight quantity, the search being made by generating the values of combinations of weights on the weighing devices excluding those devices which were selected in the preceding search and comparing the values with an acceptable weight standard, unloading the weighing devices of the selected combination for said delivery, and loading the weighing devices where were unloaded, wherein the combination search step of generating and comparing the values of the combinations of weights on the weighing devices which were selected in the preceding search is initiated before completion of weighing out new loads on those devices. Apparatus for carrying out this method is also disclosed.

A zero-point correction device, which is associated especially with an automatic weighing machine for weighing powdered product repeatedly, for correcting its zero-point deviating from its initial position as the number of weighed batches increases due to accumulation of residual product in the weighing hopper or cradle, without interruption of the machine operation.

A controlled chute device, including a ramp chute having an entrance gate at the upstream and an exit gate at the downstream, for letting groups of product fed from the entrance gate slip down along it by gravity and discharging them from the exit gate, wherein the both entrance and exit gates are controlled sophisticatedly so that two or more groups of product sequentially fed from the entrance gate can exist on the chute at the same time without fear of contact and intermixture of the adjoining groups, which device is especially suitable for use in a combination weighing machine.

An automatically controlled combination weighing machine, which is generally used for packing a plurality of articles in each bag or the like so that each bag contains a predetermined weight of articles, comprising a plurality of weighing units for weighing a plurality of articles each at the same time to produce corresponding weight indicative signals, respectively, artihmetic means for selecting some of these weighing units so that the total weight of the articles on the selected weighing units meets a predetermined qualification, and means for unloading and loading the selected weighing units with articles automatically; an improvement of which is a provision of automatic control means for the loading means for controlling the feeding rate or amount of articles to the unloaded weighing units on the basis of the total weight of the articles in the all weighing units so that this total weight is maintained at or close to a predetermined value.

A novel type of combination weighing system is provided; wherein two combination weighing devices are provided for weighing two kinds of articles, respectively, the first device and its associated combination selecting circuits are used for obtaining some combinations of the weighing units of the first device which provide total weights of the articles thereon falling within a predetermined range of weight, and the second device and its associated combination selecting circuits are used for obtaining a combination of the weighing units of the second device which provide a total weight of the articles thereon inclusive of the total weight obtained above by the first device, which is nearest to a predetermined target weight; for finally obtaining a combined group of first and second articles wherein the total weight of the first articles falls within the predetermined range of weight and the total weight of the first and second articles is nearest of all to the predetermined target weight.

The method of delivering quantities of product measured by weight with each quantity being of an acceptable weight relative to a reference weight, utilizing a set of balances each adapted to weigh a fraction of said quantity and each adapted for unloading of product therefrom to contribute to a delivery, the method comprising for each delivery the steps of generating the values of combinations of weights on the balances excluding those balances which were unloaded on the preceding delivery and comparing the values with an acceptable weight standard to select a combination of balances to be unloaded to deliver said acceptable weight quantity, unloading the balances of the selected combination for said delivery, and loading the balances which were unloaded, wherein, for each delivery, the step of generating and comparing the values of the combinations of weights on the balances excluding those balances which were unloaded on the preceding delivery is initiated before completion of weighing out new loads on those balances, and apparatus for carrying this out.

A combination weighing machine, which is typically used for packing a plurality of articles in each bag, for example, so that the contents of all bags satisfy a predetermined weight condition, comprising a plurality of weighing units for weighing the articles each at the same time to produce weight indicating signals respectively, arithmetic means for selecting some of these weight signals whose sum satisfies the abovementioned weight condition, and means for unloading and then loading those weighing units which have produced these selected weight signals; the machine also including means for excluding the weighing units which have produced the selected weight signals from the next selecting operation and allowing adjustment of operational speed of the machine by increasing the selection speed or partly superimposing the next selecting operation on the preceding unloading and loading operations.

A combination weighing machine, which is typically used for packing a plurality of articles in each bag or the like so that the total weight of each bag becomes nearly equal to a predetermined target weight, including a plurality of weighing balances for weighing the articles at the same time, arithmetic means for selecting some of these balances so that the total weight of the articles thereon meets with a predetermined condition and means for unloading the selected balances to collect the articles thereof and then loading them with new articles, respectively, to initiate the next cycle of operation; each balance being accompanied with at least two holding hoppers and corresponding memories, and means for distributing each batch of articles weighed by the corresponding balance to each hopper and supplying the weight of each batch to the corresponding memory, thereby subjecting all batches of articles in all holding hoppers to the combination selection of said arithmetic means with the contents of the corresponding memories, to improve weighing efficiency and accuracy without increasing the number of expensive weighing balances.

A combination weighing machine, used for packing a plurality of articles in individual bags or the like so that the weight of each pack becomes substantially equal to a predetermined target value, by weighing a plurality of articles by a plurality of weighing balances at the same time and combining some of them appropriately to form a group of articles having a total weight approximating to the target value, and constructed such that a pair of combinations providing total weights which are nearest the target value of all are searched and selected out of a predetermined set of combinations respectively for both positive and negative deviations with respect to the target value, thereby enabling the election of one of them in accordance with a predetermined order of preference.

A device for grouping solid articles so as to have a predetermined total number by combination selection technique, in which a plurality of sub-groups of articles are prepared, the number of articles in each sub-group is detected, some of these sub-groups are successively extracted in accordance with a predetermined mathematical combination, the numbers of articles in the extracted sub-groups in each combination are summed to obtain the total number of said combination, the total numbers of the successive combinations are sequentially compared with a predetermined reference number and, when coincidence is obtained between both, the combination of sub-groups is selected to be packed together, so that each pack or bag contains the predetermined number of articles.
