User support method and user support apparatus for facilitating a user to find desired information from an enormous size of Web sites in a user friendly manner so as to make efficient use thereof. A front processor functions at a level of interface with a user. A middle processor processes and stores information to be supplied to the user via the front processor. The front processor stores object data which describe a virtual three-dimensional space containing a plurality of virtual rooms, which respectively correspond to different concepts, and a specialized agent which performs a service related to the concept corresponding to each of the rooms. When the service is requested by the user, the specialized agent asks the middle processor about information necessary for providing the service.

User support method and user support apparatus

A text editing apparatus includes a display for displaying text including words, and an input device operable by an operator to designate a word from the words of the text displayed on the display. A processing unit of the apparatus includes a first memory for storing text data including data of a plurality of words, and a second memory for storing word data and label data indicating meaning suggested by individual words. Each word data is paired with its corresponding label data. Data of a first word designated by an user is identified from text data stored in the first memory. Label data associated with word data matching with the first word data is identified from the second memory. The processing unit produces a list of data regarding a plurality of words associated with the identified label data and selected from words stored in the second memory. The words of the list is displayed on a screen of the display.

Apparatus and method for editing text

A method differentiates simultaneous and sequential key strokes by detecting simultaneous key strokes if two keys are pushed within a judging time T.sub.L. The method includes the steps of (a) measuring a first time T.sub.1 from a time when a first key is pushed to a time when a second key is pushed, and a second time T.sub.2 from the time when the second key is pushed to a time when one of the first and second keys is released, (b) comparing the first and second times T.sub.1 and T.sub.2 with an arbitrary threshold function T.sub.C which is set within the judging time T.sub.L, and (c) differentiating whether key strokes of the first and second keys are simultaneous or sequential based on a comparison result of the step (b).
