[Objects] It is an object to provide a foam having a low specific gravity and a small compression set, more preferably a foam having a low specific gravity, a small compression set and uniform quality, a foaming composition, and applications of the foam. [Means for Solution] The foam is obtained by foaming an olefin polymer, wherein the foam has a specific gravity (d) in the range of 0.03 to 0.30, and a compression set (CS, %) and the specific gravity (d) satisfy the formula of CS&#x2266;&#x2212;279&#xd7;(d)+95. The foam is preferably obtained from a foaming composition that includes an ethylene polymer (A) including a specific ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (A1) and an ethylene/polar monomer copolymer (A2) in a specific mass ratio, and a specific ethylene/C3-20 &#x3b1;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene copolymer (B).

Foams, foaming compositions and applications thereof

An ethylene resin composition is provided which has excellent properties including adhesion properties, electrically insulating properties, transparency, moldability and process stability and can be produced without requiring any cross-linking procedure if necessary to improve productivity; and others. The ethylene resin composition contains a modified product produced by modifying an ethylene polymer (A) that meets all of the requirements a) to e) mentioned below with an ethylenically unsaturated silane compound (B). a) The density is 900 to 940 kg/m. b) The melting peak temperature is 90 to 125 &#xb0; C. as determined by DSC. c) The melt flow rate (MFR2) is 0.1 to 100 g/10 minutes as measured at 190 &#xb0; C. and a load of 2.16 kg in accordance with JIS K-6721. d) The Mw/Mn ratio is 1.2 to 3.5. e) The content of metal residues is 0.1 to 50 ppm.

Ethylene resin composition, sealing material for solar cell, and solar cell module utilizing the sealing material

The present invention provides a molded product exhibiting excellent various properties by improving compatibility of an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene copolymer with a polyolefin resin and a rubber composition for forming the molded product. The present invention further provides a molded product which comprises a rubber composition, is inhibited from fogging and tackiness and is excellent in mechanical strength and heat aging resistance. The rubber composition of the invention comprises an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene copolymer (A), and a polyolefin resin (B) having Mn of not less than 10,000 and/or an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer (C) having Mn of 2500 to 5000, and satisfies the following requirements: (1) a maximum value and a minimum value of an ethylene distribution parameter P of the component (A) have a relationship of Pmax/Pmin&#x2266;1.4, and (2) the B value of the component (C) ([EX]/(2[E]&#xd7;[X])) ([E] and [X] are molar fractions of ethylene and the &#x3b1;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms, respectively, and [EX] is a fraction of dyad sequence of ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms) is not more than 1.05.

Rubber composition, crosslinked product and foam thereof, molded product therefrom, and use thereof

The invention provides a copolymer rubber excellent in processability in kneading and processability in extrusion; rubber compositions containing the rubber; and crosslinked moldings of the compositions excellent in sealing properties and shape retention. A random copolymer rubber of ethylene (A), a C&#x3b1;-olefin (B) and a nonconjugated polyene (C) which satisfies the following requirements (1) to (5): (1) the structural units (A) and (B) are contained at an (A)/(B) molar ratio of 40/60 to 95/5, (2) the structural unit (C) content is 0.01 to 5% by mole, (3) the limiting viscosity [&#x3b7;] is 1.0 to 5.0 dl/g as determined in decahydronaphthalene at 135&#xb0;., (4) the Mw/Mn is 1 to 8, and (5) the P value is 0.46 to 1.00 as defined by formula (1): P=Ln(limiting viscosity [&#x3b7;])&#x2212;5.0&#xd7;10&#xd7;&#x3b7;*(10) (1) (wherein Ln is a natural logarithm; and &#x3b7;*(10) is viscosity (Pa&#xb7;sec) as determined at 190&#xb0; C. and at 10 rad/sec.

Copolymer rubber, rubber composition and rubber molded product

It is an object of the present invention to provide a rubber composition which has been improved in mechanical properties with maintaining excellent various properties and is favorably used for a fuel cell sealing member, a hard disc drive top cover gasket member and an electric wire connector sealing member. It is another object of the present invention to provide main bodies mounted with the above respective members obtained by the use of the rubber composition. The rubber composition of the invention comprises a specific ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene copolymer in which the non-conjugated polyene is a norbornene-based compound, a specific SiH group-containing compound, and if necessary, an organopolysiloxane. Such a rubber composition of the invention is excellent in mechanical properties and can be particularly favorably used for a fuel cell sealing member, a hard disc drive top cover gasket, an electric wire connector sealing member, etc.

Rubber composition and uses thereof

The crosslinkable rubber composition of the invention is crosslinkable by hot air, and a hot-air crosslinked rubber sheet thereof has no scratch on the surface in a hardness test using a pencil of HB and has a compression set of not more than 70% after a heat treatment at 150&#xb0; C. for 22 hours. The rubber composition comprises an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene random copolymer rubber comprising a specific vinyl end group-containing norbornene compound, a SiH group-containing compound having at least two SiH groups in one molecule, and if necessary, an addition reaction catalyst comprising a platinum group element and a reaction inhibitor.

Crosslinkable rubber compositions and uses thereof

The curable composition of the present invention contains (A1) a silyl-containing ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene random copolymer rubber which has a structural unit derived from a norbornene compound as the non-conjugated polyene with at least one specific vinyl group at the terminal and contains a specific hydrolyzable silyl group, and (B) a compound, other than the rubber (A1), having a hydroxyl group and/or a hydrolyzable group, e.g., (B1) a compound having a silanol group and/or a compound which can react with moisture to form a compound having a silanol group in the molecule. This compound improves elongation of the cured product and residual surface tackiness, and, at the same time, is high in curing speed and capable of giving the cured product of high resistance to weather. It is suitable for, e.g., adhesives, tackifiers, paints, sealants, waterproof materials, spray materials, shaping materials and casting rubber materials.

Curable composition and its use

A silicon-containing olefin copolymer is provided which comprises (a) a constituent unit derived from &#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014; such as ethylene, (b) a constituent unit derived from &#x2014;CH&#x2014;CHR&#x2014; where R is a hydrocarbon group of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and (c) a constituent unit containing a specific silicon-containing group. A silicon-containing olefin copolymer is also provided which is obtainable by co-polymerizing ethylene, an a-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and a specific silicon-containing ethylene monomer.

Silicon-containing olefin copolymer, crosslinkable rubber composition thereof, and use thereof

The automobile weatherstrip, hose, rubber vibration insulator, belt, sealing material, expanded product, covered electric wire, electric wire joint, electric insulating part and household rubber product according to the invention comprise the above-mentioned rubber composition. The rubber composition has a high crosslinking rate and excellent productivity to produce crosslinked rubber molded products, is capable of undergoing hot-air crosslinking such as HAV or UHF and is capable of providing crosslinked rubber molded products having excellent compression set resistance, strength properties, heat resistance, weathering resistance and abrasion resistance.

Crosslinkable rubber compositions and use thereof

The crosslinkable rubber composition is crosslinkable at room temperature, has a gelation time at room temperature of 30 days or less, and can prepare a crosslinked rubber sheet by crosslinking the composition at room temperature, wherein the crosslinked rubber sheet has a tensile elongation of 20% or more, and is free of cracks after treatment at 40&deg; C. in a 50 pphm ozone concentration for 96 hr. Specifically, it comprises an ethylene/&agr;-olefin/non-conjugated polyene random copolymer rubber comprising a norbornene compound having a specific vinyl end group, an SiH group-containing compound, which has at least two SiH groups in one molecule, and optionally a platinum catalyst, a reaction inhibitor and/or a silane-coupling agent. The sealing, potting and coating materials and adhesives of the present invention comprise the above rubber composition.

The invention provides an ethylene-&agr;-olefin-unconjugated polyene random copolymer rubber having hydrolyzable silyl groups in the molecule, which is crosslinkable with air-borne moisture at room temperature and is not only useful for resin modification, but also applicable as elastic sealants and adhesives, and a method for preparing the same.

The present invention provides a raw rubber lapping film formed of an ethylene&middot;&agr;-olefin random copolymer comprising ethylene unit and an &agr;-olefin unit having 4 to 20 carbon atoms and a raw rubber bale lapped with this film. Since the film is superior in strength and release properties and has good dispersibility in ethylene&middot;&agr;-olefin copolymer rubber, the operation of lapping raw rubber with a film, the operation of stripping a film from a lapped raw rubber bale and the operation of separating each of a plurality of raw rubber bales are carried out easily and yet there is no adverse effect on the subsequent rubber processing step without stripping the film by heating at a temperature higher than the melting point of the film at the time of kneading.
