The present invention addresses the problem of providing an electrophoretic medium container capable of stabilizing a liquid delivery pressure while ensuring sealing of an electrophoretic medium. In order to resolve this problem, this electrophoretic medium container is provided with a syringe part for holding an electrophoretic medium, and a sealing component for sealing one end of the syringe part, the electrophoretic medium container being characterized in that the sealing component has a sealing surface, a body part, and a groove provided between the sealing surface and the body part, wherein the sealing surface is in contact with the inner wall of the syringe part.

Electrophoretic medium container

In an apparatus for analyzing small number of samples, wasteful consumption of a polymer as a separation Medium is suppressed. The apparatus has a configuration provided with a plurality of capillary units each of which can be attached/detached to/from the apparatus, and performs analysis for capillaries after sealing of a polymer by attaching the capillaries by the number in accordance with the number of samples. Since analysis can be performed by using capillaries by the number identical with that of the samples to be analyzed, wasteful polymer is not used in the capillaries not used for the analysis. In addition, the polymer injection mechanism is unnecessary and the polymer is not necessary for maintenance and upon starting of analysis. An electrophoresis apparatus which is small in the size with no polymer injection mechanism, and with low running cost not wastefully consuming the polymer can be provided.

Electrophoresis apparatus, capillary array, and capillary unit

The solution reservoir apparatus of the capillary electrophoresis apparatus securely affixes an evaporation-preventing membrane to a container when a capillary is inserted or withdrawn, without extending the cathode end of the capillary. The solution reservoir apparatus comprises a container for reserving a sample or solution, a cover having a bore through which the capillary is passed and covering the container, an evaporation-preventing membrane having a capillary hole through which the capillary is passed, and a container holder for holding the container. The evaporation-preventing membrane has a projection provided at the periphery of the capillary hole, the projection of the evaporation-preventing membrane is engaged with the bore on the cover when the evaporation-preventing membrane is positioned on the cover, and the evaporation-preventing membrane is supported by the cover.

Capillary electrophoresis apparatus

The present invention relates to detection of an emission spectrum by irradiating excitation light onto a plurality of electrophoretic paths and dispersing fluorescent light output from the electrophoretic paths in a direction approximately vertical to an electrophoretic direction. According to the invention, since an emission spectrum to be detected does not substantially change over time, it becomes possible to make observed emission spectrums completely correspond to various fluorescent dyes or various bases.

Bubbles can be removed regardless of an individual difference of a pump to fill an electrophoresis medium into a capillary. Of flow passages formed between an inner side surface of a container for accommodating the electrophoresis medium and a side surface of a plunger, one of the flow passages causing an electrophoresis medium to be easily stagnant is formed to have the cross-sectional area larger than the cross-sectional area of the other flow passage on the opposite side. In other words, the flow passage portion causing the electrophoresis medium to be easily stagnant is formed in such a manner as to increase a flow amount of the electrophoresis medium. This can eliminate a region having an extremely small amount of electrophoresis medium flow in the pump.

There is provided a capillary electrophoresis apparatus wherein coupling efficiency of exciting irradiation light to a capillary array does not decline even if any one capillary array of two capillary arrays is removed. Light emission generated by capillaries of each capillary array of 2(n is a positive integer) capillary arrays radiating exciting light from one side is detected by one optical detection system.

In a capillary electrophoresis apparatus, a capillary array unit has a capillary array including capillaries having a capillary head and a detection unit, a frame for supporting the capillary array, and a load header for holding cathode ends of the capillaries. The frame has separators for separating and holding the capillaries. The capillary head, the detection unit, and the separators are disposed along one linear line. With this arrangement, there is provided the capillary array unit and the capillary electrophoresis apparatus which are arranged such that a job for mounting the capillary array can be executed easily.

To obtain a stable pressure to inject polymer into a capillary array in order to shorten the injection time and raise the processing capacity of the apparatus. Disclosed herein is an electrophoresis apparatus comprising one or more capillaries to be filled with an electrophoretic medium and a pump mechanism which can be connected to the capillaries for filling the capillaries with an electrophoretic medium. The pump mechanism comprises a plunger; a slider which is bonded to the plunger and moves together with the plunger; a spring which gives force to the slider; a cover which limits the range of displacement of the slider; and a linear motion system which is bonded to the cover and moves linearly, wherein the cover and the slider move as one body when the electrophoretic medium is taken to the plunger, and the plunger is pushed by the action of the spring when the electrophoretic medium is injected from the plunger into the capillaries.

Electrophoresis apparatus and pump mechanism used in the same

The object of the present invention is that a dynamic range is extended in an electrophoresis unit and concentration differences among a plurality of samples measured simultaneously are increased. An irradiation time to the samples is adjusted during analysis without changing a sampling time. By shortening the irradiation time, a fluorescence amount of the samples is reduced to cause signal intensity detected by a detector to physically decrease. If the irradiation time is very short (several 100 msec), the irradiation time and fluorescence intensity are in a direct proportional relationship. It is known that, if the irradiation time is reduced to 1/n, the fluorescence intensity, that is, signal intensity to be detected will be 1/n. Thus, for data whose irradiation time is reduced to 1/n during analysis, data obtained by multiplying a substantially measured value by n is used for data analysis as a true value to be originally acquired.

Electrophoresis unit and electrophoretic analysis method

The present invention provides a capillary electrophoresis apparatus in which a capillary is easily attached to and detached from a migration medium filling unit without mixing impurities into the capillary. Mixture of impurities such as dust is also prevented when a capillary negative-electrode end is brought into contact with a sample stored in a vessel. Furthermore, temperature control is efficiently performed in the capillary. In the capillary electrophoresis apparatus, the whole of capillary array can be supported by grasping a grip portion by hand. A migration medium filling mechanism includes a slide mechanism which moves a polymer block with respect to a capillary head. The capillary electrophoresis apparatus includes a vessel in which a sample and a buffer can simultaneously be stored. Temperatures of the capillary and an irradiation and detection unit are controlled by a temperature control function provided in a thermostatic device.

Detection sensitivity is improved by increasing the amount of light of beams that irradiate a sample cell without causing saturation of a detector with ultraviolet beams or visible beams. This spectrophotometer includes a sample cell, which stores a sample to be measured, a visible light source and an ultraviolet light source each for supplying an incident beam that enters the sample, a spectroscope, which disperses a beam that has passed through the sample, an optical detector, which detects beams dispersed from such beam (spectrum), and a dichroic element which reflects or transmits ultraviolet beams from the ultraviolet light source and which transmits or reflects visible beams from the visible light source. Optics are configured such that ultraviolet beams and visible beams that have passed through or have been reflected by the dichroic element enter the sample cell.

Spectrophotometer and liquid chromatography system

In a case where the temperature of capillaries cannot be controlled rapidly in accordance with the change of the amount of heat generated from the capillaries, the phoretic speed of the sample is not controlled constant to lower the analyzing performance for the sample. This invention intends to stabilize the electrophoretic speed. The surface of a substrate on which a plurality of capillaries are arranged is in contact with a member capable of temperature control thereby controlling the temperature of the capillaries. Since a member capable of controlling the temperature and the capillaries are in direct contact with each other according to the invention, the temperature of the capillary can be controlled rapidly at a high accuracy, so that electrophoretic speed is stabilized.
