A display apparatus is disclosed with a vacuum seal member which has a shell structure. The display apparatus includes an anode substrate, a planar cathode substrate forming an electron emitting chamber vacuously sealed between the cathode substrate and the anode substrate, electron sources formed on the cathode substrate, phosphors formed on the anode substrate, and a vacuum seal member forming a pressure balancing chamber on the back of the electron emitting chamber side of the cathode substrate. The vacuum seal member is placed covering the back of the electron emitting chamber side, and has a shell structure for receiving the atmospheric pressure.

An exposure apparatus of the present invention for forming a fluorescent screen over the inner surface of the panel of a color cathode ray tube has a drive device capable of automatically aligning a short-arc mercury-vapor lamp to hold the position of the center axis within a required exposure accuracy, whereby the position of the arc center of the short-arc mercury-vapor lamp is displaced toward the center axis of the panel to correct arc variations depending upon a lighting period of the short-arc mercury-vapor lamp.

A heating apparatus equipped with a heater for heating a body to be heated and a heater-moving device is controlled to change the distance between the heater and the body to be heated in dependence upon the size and heat capacity of the body to be heated, so that the body is heated at a desired temperature elevating rate. This method is capable of treating bodies having different sizes and different heat capacities at a predetermined constant temperature at all times.

In an exposure apparatus of the type in which a light source, formed by fixing a light emitting tube, housed uner a cover except a partial opening, inside a lamp housing filled with cooling water, is disposed in such a fashion that the opening faces an exposed surface via a transparent faceplate of the lamp housing and the light source is rotatable with the center axis of the exposed surface, perpendicular thereto, being the axis of rotation, the invention discloses an exposure apparatus wherein the faceplate of the lamp housing consists of a saddle-shaped lens having a concave surface in the radial direction of the light emitting tube and a convex surface in the axial direction. Ths exposure apparatus reduces the apparent movement of the light source with the rotation of the light source portion, and can improved exposure accuracy.

Light exposure apparatus comprises a light source, a spectral filter perivious to light of a prescribed wavelength range, a glass member whose cut-off frequency in the prescribed wavelength range is variable with temperature, and a temperature control for controlling the temperature of the glass member. Intensity of the light from the light source, passing through the spectral filter and glass member, and impinging upon the surface subject to light-exposure is controlled by the temperature control.

An extra-high pressure mercury discharge lamp comprising an end-sealed glass tube shaped to provide a long arc type tube, mercury contained in the both ends respectively of the glass tube, a pair of electrodes provided in the both ends respectively of the glass tube, each of the electrodes including one end portion extending toward the exterior from the associated end of the glass tube, an intermediate portion immersed in the mercury, and the other end portion extending toward the interior beyond the surface of the mercury facing toward the middle of the glass tube, and a power source connected between the externally extending portions of the electrode pair to supply power thereacross, the other or internally extending portions of the electrode pair having a length so selected that the mercury discharge lamp emits light of a sharp emission profile suitable for the exposure of a very fine pattern.

Extra-high pressure mercury discharge lamp

In a curved tube type ultra high pressure mercury discharge lamp device of the type comprising an arcuate glass tube, a quantity of mercury contained in both ends of the glass tube and electrodes projecting into the glass tube beyond surfaces of the mercury for creating electric discharge between the electrodes, throttles are formed on an inner surface of the glass tube near the electrodes. The throttles have diameters smaller than an inner diameter of the glass tube and the mercury is contained in spaces between the throttles and the both ends of the glass tube.

Curved tube type ultra high pressure mercury arc discharge lamp device

A curved discharge tube is manufactured by preparing a straight quartz tube having an eccentric longitudinal opening and then bending the heated tube into a current tube with a thicker waall portion of the tube on the outside and the thinner wall portion on the inner side. It is advantageous to seal inner gas into the tube before bending so as to obtain a curved tube having uniform wall thickness.

A light quantity control device for controlling the quantity of light emitted from a light source supplied with a.c. power through a bidirectional switching element is disclosed which comprises an integrating circuit for integrating an electric signal corresponding to the quantity of emitted light to produce a light quantity signal varying in accordance with a change in quantity of emitted light and another integrating circuit for integrating the light quantity signal with a predetermined period to produce an exponentially rising signal for every predetermined period, and in which the output of the latter integrating circuit is compared with a reference value to obtain a control signal having a duration time corresponding to the results of comparison, and the switching element is controlled by the control signal to perform a phase control for the a.c. power.

In a method of exposing to light a fluorescent screen of an in-line dot type color picture tube wherein an inner surface of a panel of the tube coated with a photosensitive film, a shadow mask, and a linear type extra-high pressure mercury lamp covered by a shielding plate having an opening are disposed substantially in parallel so as to expose the inner surface of the panel to light passing through apertures of the shadow mask, a plurality of openings are formed in the shield plate with a mutual spacing of n.times.B.sub.p (L/Q) where B.sub.p represents a lateral pitch between adjacent apertures of the shadow mask, L a distance between the mercury lamp and the inner surface of the panel, Q a distance between the shadow mask and the inner surface of the panel, and n a positive integer, and the inner surface of the panel is exposed to light from the plurality of openings through the apertures of the shadow mask.

Method of exposing to light fluorescent screens of color picture tubes

In the manufacture of a striped phosphor screen for a black matrix type color picture tube, a pattern of stripes of a light-absorbing material is first formed on the faceplate of a glass envelope to define transparent striped windows thereon by a known process and then phosphor materials are applied to the striped windows by the use of a nozzle assembly having at least one nozzle capable of discharging a phosphor material, without owing to the photolighography. The coating apparatus comprises a nozzle assembly including one or more nozzles, drivers for effecting relative movement between the nozzle and the faceplate of the glass envelope in a first direction in the plane of the faceplate and perpendicular to the stripes, in a third direction perpendicular to the faceplate and in a second direction longitudinal of the stripes, sensors for detecting the position of the nozzle, generators for producing a positional error signal and control for controlling the position of the nozzle.
