An anti-skid brake control system which includes a method and apparatus for anti-skid brake control of the vehicle utilizing a first and second electromagnetic valves that controls operation of the at least one rear wheel and at least one rear brake of the vehicle which includes the steps of registering a first predetermined rear wheel rotational velocity standard and a predetermined rear wheel receleration rate upon braking of the vehicle, registering an actual rear wheel deceleration rate of the vehicle, establishing a predetermined velocity differential for operation of the first electromagnetic valve, establishing a second predetermined rear wheel rotational velocity standard, calculating a time period for changing from the first velocity standard to the second velocity standard, comparing the predetermined deceleration rate with the actual deceleration rate, comparing the predetermined velocity differential with the difference between the first and second velocity standards when the actual deceleration rate is less than the predetermined deceleration rate, energizing the first electromagnetic valve when the difference between the first and second velocity standards is equal to the predetermined velocity differential, and automatically controlling operation of the rear brake by energizing and de-energizing the first and second electromagnetic valve by comparison of the time period of energizing the first electromagnetic valve with the calculated time period for changing from the first velocity standard to the second velocity standard.

Anti-skid brake control system for automobiles

A brake booster for vehicles having a vehicle body with a brake pedal, including a tubular housing forming a seat portion having an inner wall, a brake master cylinder coaxially adjacent to an output side of said tubular housing and having a piston and a cylinder body, a cylinder integrally formed with said cylinder body of said brake master cylinder and extending to the inner wall of the seat portion within the tubular housing for attaching the tubular housing to the vehicle body, a flange member positioned adjacent said inner wall of said seat portion and formed on an end portion of an outer circumference portion of said cylinder, a first movable member axially dividing a space formed on an outer circumference portion of the cylinder by the tubular housing and the cylinder and movable to the output side due to a pressure difference generated therebetween both sides, a second movable member slidably inserted into the cylinder and integrally movable with the first movable member and including an end portion outwardly projecting from the tubular housing, a valve mechanism disposed within said movable member and actuatable by the brake pedal and regulating the pressure difference, an output member operatably connecting the first and second movable members and the piston of the brake master cylinder and an attaching mechanism for attaching the brake booster to the vehicle body mounted on the flange.

Brake booster for vehicles

A brake booster of the stroke-enlarging type which includes a power piston disposed in a casing for being actuated by a difference in pressure on opposite sides thereof. The brake booster includes a transmission device in the form of a ball and ball retainer which are biased by a spring while the ball is retained between a surface of the power piston and a control piston. The ball and ball retainer are limited in movement by a stopper coupled to the power piston. The ball and ball retainer forming the transmission device are advanced in response to the spring bias by the power piston and are operated such that when a brake clearance has been extinguished and a reactionary force from the output member becomes larger than the preload of the spring, the reactionary force blocks the advance of the ball and ball retainer so that the reaction force is partly transmitted to the control piston with a resultant reduction of the reactionary force transmitted to the power piston.

Brake booster

A brake booster of stroke-enlarging type which includes a casing, a power piston so disposed as to divide the interior of the casing into two chambers for being actuated by the difference of pressure in the two chambers, a control piston, containing therein a valve mechanism for controlling the difference of pressure in the two chambers and a transmission mechanism for transmitting an input of an input member to an output member, being coaxially fitted into a central bore of the power piston relatively movably thereto and a reaction lever, which is abutted at an output portion in the middle thereof by the output member, receiving output of the transmission mechanism and output of the power piston respectively as an input at a first input portion and a second input portion thereof located on either side of said output portion in the middle, whereby a greater stroke can be obtained at the output member than a stroke input at the input member. Between the control piston and the power piston a locking mechanism including a ball and a ball retainer is disposed. The ball retainer is for transmitting an output of the power piston to the reaction lever via the ball, through abutment on a first input portion of the reaction lever. After the ball has been locked between the power piston and the control piston a reactionary force which comes from the reaction lever back to the ball retainer is mostly transmitted from the ball to the control piston, not to the power piston. Therefore the power piston is not pushed back even after the peak of the assisting force given to the power piston by the pressure difference.

A disc brake of ventilated disc rotor type wherein air is positively introduced into the air passages formed in the disc rotor. In the dust cover of this type disc brake an air introducing hole is formed. On the outside of the dust cover an air collector is disposed for positively collecting and introducing the air flowing in the vicinity of the dust cover. On the inside of the dust cover an air guide is disposed for guiding the air taken through the air introducing hole as far as the entrance of the air passages in the disc rotor.

Disc brake

A tandem master cylinder comprising a first plunger mechanically connected to a foot brake pedal and a second plunger separated from the first plunger to define one of the two fluid chambers. A T-shaped intermediate member provided with a retainer head is interposed between two plungers so as to limit the spaced distance therebetween and mount a return spring on the retainer head abutting the second plunger. The retainer head is of a reduced diameter thereby providing an annular gap between the retainer head and the inner wall of the cylinder body. Thus undesirable injury to the inner wall due to radial displacement of the retainer head will be avoided.

Tandem master cylinder

A resilient seal cap is coupled over an upper opening of a reservoir casing to define an interior air space with the upper surface of brake fluid in the casing. The seal cap is formed integral with a first annular lip co-operating with the inner wall of the casing to provide an inlet check valve permitting the flow of air into the interior air space and with a second annular lip co-operating with a valve plate secured to the center of the casing to provide an outlet check valve permitting the flow of air out from the interior air space to the exterior.

Sealed fluid reservoir for brake master cylinders

A sealed type hydraulic reservoir including a casing for storing brake fluid therein, a cap member detachably mounted on the casing and an elastic diaphragm member dividing the casing into upper and lower chambers. The lower chamber is defined by the diaphragm member and the liquid surface, and the pressure in the lower chamber is always maintained at the level of atmospheric pressure by two check valves, one for allowing the air flow from the upper to the lower chamber when the pressure in the lower chamber drops below the atmospheric level and the other for allowing the air flow from the lower to upper chamber when the pressure in the lower chamber rises above the atmospheric level.

Sealed type hydraulic reservoir

A sealed type hydraulic reservoir including a check valve for normally preventing communication between a sealed chamber in which brake fluid is stored and the surrounding atmospheric environment. The check valve allows atmospheric air to flow into the sealed chamber only when the pressure in the chamber drops below atmospheric level. A second check valve may be included for allowing air flow only out of the sealed chamber when the pressure in the chamber rises above atmospheric level.

A seal member for a fluid-tight connection of a plastic reservoir and a metal cylinder having different thermal expansion coefficients, including one end portion in sealing contact with each connecting portion of the reservoir and the cylinder, a middle portion formed integrally with and contiguous to the one end portion, the middle portion being normally separated from either one or both connecting portions of the reservoir and the cylinder and another end portion formed integrally with and contiguous to the middle portion and in sealing contact with both connecting portions of the reservoir and cylinder, wherein the middle portion of the seal member and the corresponding connecting portions of the reservoir and cylinder will not be influenced by thermal stress even when the surrounding temperature thereof may increase.

A seal cap assembly for a reservoir casing comprises a first seal cap having an annular thick rim portion detachably secured over the upper opening of the casing and a vertical expansible diaphragm formed in a piece with the inner periphery of the rim portion to be disposed within the casing and a second cap assembled with the thick rim portion of the first cap to facilitate removal of the cap assembly from the casing by a pushing force given to the second cap.
