A planar illumination device according to embodiments includes a substrate and a light guide plate. The substrate has a plurality of light sources arranged two-dimensionally. The light guide plate is disposed on a side of the surface of the substrate, the surface having the light sources. The light guide plate has a plurality of through holes disposed in a thickness direction and individually accommodating the light sources, and a pseudo light source. The pseudo light source is disposed such that another pseudo light source is not disposed on a line connecting the center of the pseudo light source and the center of one of the light sources.

A planar illumination device according to an embodiment includes a light guide plate, a substrate, a light source, a first fixing member, and a second fixing member. The light guide plate outputs, from a principal surface, light entering from a side surface. The substrate is disposed substantially in parallel with the principal surface of the light guide plate. The light source is provided on the substrate in a manner facing the side surface of the light guide plate. The light source has a light-emitting surface that outputs the light incident on the side surface. The first fixing member is disposed between the light guide plate and the substrate and fixes the light guide plate to the substrate. The second fixing member is disposed opposite to the first fixing member across the light guide plate and fixes the light guide plate to the light source.

Planar illumination device

A planar illumination device according to an embodiment includes: a light guide plate that guides an incident light from a side surface; a light source that is disposed in the side surface side and emits light incident to the side surface; a frame that has a floor surface extending along a main surface of the light guide plate and accommodates the light guide plate and the light source; a reflection sheet that is disposed in the main surface side of the light guide plate and reflects light; and a first fixing member that is disposed between the reflection sheet and the floor surface and fixes at least a part of an end portion of the reflection sheet in the light source side to the floor surface.

A planar illumination device according to an embodiment includes a light guide plate, a light source, a substrate, and a fixing member. The light guide plate causes light incident on a side surface to exit from a light exit surface. The light source is arranged on a side of the side surface of the light guide plate and has a light emitting surface to emit light toward the side surface. The light source is mounted on the substrate by bonding a bonding surface of the light source thereto by a solder. The fixing member is cured at temperature lower than a melting point of the solder and fixes the light source to the substrate while maintaining a position and a posture of the light source.

A planar illumination apparatus according to an embodiment includes a light guide plate that emits light from an emission surface, the light being incident on a lateral surface of the light guide plate; a light source that is arranged on the lateral surface side and has a light emitting surface that emits light to be incident on the lateral surface; a substrate that has two principal surfaces, a surface opposite to the light emitting surface of the light source being mounted on one of the principal surfaces; a frame that has a lateral surface and a floor surface, and accommodates the light guide plate, the light source, and the substrate; and a first coupling member that is arranged between the light guide plate and the floor surface and between the light source and the floor surface, and couples the light guide plate and the light source.

A planar illumination apparatus includes: a plurality of light sources that are disposed linearly and that emit light; and a light guide plate that has a lateral surface on which the light sources are disposed so as to face the lateral surface and includes extended portions each extending in directions in which the extended portions are spaced away from each other from both ends of the lateral surface and are away from the light sources. A planar illumination apparatus according to an embodiment includes a light guiding plate, a frame member, and an attenuation part. The light guiding plate includes a light extracting surface; and a light incident side surface on which light emitted from a light source is made incident. The light incident side surface is a side surface intersecting with the light extracting surface. The frame member including side walls are arranged to be along side surfaces other than the light incident side surface of the light guiding plate. The side walls are separated from the side surfaces. The attenuation part is arranged close to at least one of the side surfaces other than the light incident side surface to attenuate light emitted from the at least one side surface.

A planar lighting device includes: a board that includes a strip-shaped section, and an external connection section, which protrudes from the central part of the strip-shaped section in a lateral direction of the strip-shaped section, and that is provided with an installation surface; and light source units that are provided with a plurality of light sources connected in series, that are each provided with a first electrode and a second electrode on both end sides, and that are arranged side by side on the installation surface at the strip-shaped section of the board in a longitudinal direction. Furthermore, the single external connection section is provided for the light source units, and the first electrodes in all the light source units, related to the single external connection section, are located farther from the external connection section than the second electrodes in the light source units.
