An automatic priming method in which an arterial-side chamber is maintained in a normal position during priming, as in a case of dialysis treatment, and in which forward and backward rotations of a blood pump are employed, and a speed of rotation, in particular, backward rotation, is adjusted to be low, so that air or the like is reliably prevented from entering a dialyzer. The priming method for use in a blood purification circuit in which priming is conducted by supplying physiological saline into a circulation circuit formed by connecting an arterial blood circuit with a venous blood circuit includes filling the venous blood circuit with a priming solution (physiological saline), discharging the priming solution for cleaning the arterial blood circuit, conducting a treatment in a direction opposite to the overflow step, which may be followed by a forward direction re-circulation step, and re-circulating in a forward direction.

Automatic priming method

A medical needle device includes a winged shield () having a substantially cylindrical shaped shield cylinder () and wings () connected to the front end side thereof, a needle base () inserted in the shield cylinder (), and a needle (). The wings have wing projections () and the shield cylinder has through holes () on the wall thereof. By overlaying the wings along the side surface of the shield cylinder, each of the wing projections can be inserted into the inner cavity of the shield cylinder via the through hole. Thereby, without requiring a special operation in the sticking operation, each of the wing projections can prevent the needle base from moving in the axial direction and can hold the needle base in the shield cylinder reliably in a state in which the needle protrudes from the front end of the shield cylinder by a predetermined length.

A winged injection needle having a needle covering means used at treatments for infusion solution, blood transfusion and extracorporeal blood circulation, characterized by comprising a puncturing needle tube (), a hub () for holding the base end of the needle tube, and a hollow needle housing member for permitting the hub to displace by sliding and to be housed in the entirely in its lumen, and by being provided with an erroneous puncturing prevention means satisfying the following three conditions: (1) the injection noodle can be easily and safety housed after use, (2) its construction is simple and easy to handle to permit easy production at low costs, and (3) it can be safely disposed of.
