An input device has a first electrode, a second electrode, and a third electrode. The second electrode opposes to the first electrode while being spaced apart therefrom. The third electrode is spaced apart from the first electrode and rotatably or slidably provided relative to the second electrode. By the third electrode being brought into contact with or spaced apart from the second electrode, an electrical state between the first electrode and the second electrode changes. Based on this electrical change, a rotary manipulation or a slide manipulation is detected.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention can provide an optical material composition that includes an episulfide compound that is represented by formula (1) and a polymerizable compound that is different from the episulfide compound that is represented by formula (1). The optical material composition makes it possible to stably and inexpensively store the polymerizable compound and to achieve an optical material that has a favorable hue and that has favorable lightfastness and transparency. (In the formula, m is an integer from 0 to 4, and n is an integer from 0 to 2.)

One embodiment of the present invention can provide an optical material composition that includes a cyclic compound that is represented by formula (1) and an episulfide that is represented by formula (2). Another embodiment of the present invention can provide an optical material production method that includes a step wherein, with respect to the total amount of the optical material composition, 0.0001-10 mass % of a polymerization catalyst is added to the optical material composition and the optical material composition is polymerization cured. (In formula (2), m is an integer from 0 to 4, and n is an integer from 0 to 2.) 

Cyclic compound and optical material composition including same

Provided is an optical material composition, with which an optical material is obtained having excellent quality such as excellent color tone and lightfastness, a low level of striae, and high transparency when polymerization-cured. Through use of the optical material composition, which includes a compound represented by formula (1) and an episulfide compound represented by formula (2), the ratio of the compound represented by formula (1) to the combined total amount of the compound represented by formula (1) and the episulfide compound represented by formula (2) being 0.001-5.0% by mass, it is possible to provide an optical material composition for manufacturing an optical material having a high refractive index, the optical material having excellent quality such as transparency, striae, color tone, and lightfastness. (In the formula, m represents an integer of 0-4, and n represents an integer of 0-2.) 

Optical material composition, and application for same

According to the present invention, a composition for optical material, which is capable of providing a homogeneous optical material, can be prepared through pre-polymerization reaction between (a) an inorganic compound having a sulfur atom and (b) an episulfide compound using a hindered amine as a catalyst, followed by mixing with (c) a polythiol compound and (d) a polyisocyanate compound. Moreover, this composition for optical material can be polymerized and cured to thereby provide an optical material having high refractive index (ne of 1.73 or higher), high strength (an elongation of 13% or more in three-point bend test and good drilling resistance), and high heat resistance (a softening point of 70&#xb0; C. or higher, as measured by TMA).

Method for producing composition for optical material

According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, with an optical material compound including an episulfide compound represented by formula (1) and an episulfide compound represented by formula (2), it is possible to stably and inexpensively store the episulfide compound represented by formula (2) and also provide an optical material having excellent light resistance (in formula (1), m represents an integer from 0 to 4, and n represents an integer from 0 to 2) (in formula (2), m represents an integer from 0 to 4, and n represents an integer from 0 to 2).

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a sulfur-containing epoxy compound producing no scum-like insoluble matter. According to the present invention, a sulfur-containing halohydrin compound is dripped into and reacted with a mixed solvent containing an organic solvent and a basic compound to provide the method for producing the sulfur-containing epoxy compound. According to aspects of the present invention, the organic solvent is at least one type of compound selected from toluene and benzene, the basic compound is at least one type of compound selected from sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide, and the reaction temperature is between &#x2212;5&#xb0; C. and 30&#xb0; C.

Disclosed here is a method of aging a plasma display panel. The aging method of the present invention contains a first aging period and a second aging period. In the first aging period, applying voltage Vdto at least any one of the scan electrodes, the sustain electrodes, and the address electrodes suppress self-erase discharge that occurs in the wake of aging voltage generated by application of voltage in which the scan electrodes take a voltage level higher than the sustain electrodes. In the second aging period, applying voltage Vdto at least any one of the scan electrodes, the sustain electrodes, and the address electrodes suppress self-erase discharge that occurs in the wake of aging voltage generated by application of voltage in which the sustain electrodes take a voltage level higher than the scan electrodes. The above aging method offers a power-efficient aging process with the aging time accelerated.

Plasma display panel aging method

In the aging process performed by applying a voltage having an alternating voltage component between a scan electrode and a sustain electrode, an erase discharge occurs in succession to an aging discharge. According to the aging method, an erase discharge-suppressing voltage is applied to at least any one of the scan electrode, the sustain electrode, and the data electrode. Although the erase discharge repeatedly occurs in the wake of the aging discharge, the erase discharge-suppressing voltage suppresses the ones that occur when the scan electrode has voltage level higher than the sustain electrode.

Aging method of plasma display panel

In an aging process in which a voltage having an alternate voltage component is applied to at least between a scan electrode and a sustain electrode so as to form a discharge dent (sputter dent) on a protecting layer, the aging discharge dent is formed so as to satisfy any one of the following. First, the discharge dent on the scan electrode-side has a width which is narrower than the discharge dent on the side of sustain electrode. Second, the discharge dent on the side of sustain electrode is formed so that the depth of the discharge dent in the area away from a scan electrode paired with a sustain electrode as a display electrode is shallower than the depth of the discharge dent in the area close to counterpart scan electrode.

Plasma display panel and method of aging the same

A plasma display panel is provided that includes scan electrodes, sustain electrodes, and address electrodes. A first pulse voltage for the address electrodes or a second pulse voltage for the address electrodes is applied to the address electrodes in an aging step in which aging discharge is performed by alternately applying pulse voltage for the scan electrodes and pulse voltage for the sustain electrodes at least across the scan electrodes and the sustain electrodes. The first pulse voltage has a rising edge timing synchronized with a rising edge timing of the pulse voltage for the scan electrodes and a pulse width smaller than that of the pulse voltage for the scan electrodes. The second pulse voltage has a rising edge timing synchronized with a rising edge timing of the pulse voltage for the sustain electrodes and a pulse width smaller than that of the pulse voltage for the sustain electrodes.
