A material flow control device for controlling flows of a plurality of work species within a production system measures the two-stage engagement amounts and the output amounts of respective work species in respective controlled units, and calculates the evaluation values for respective work species in the respective controlled units as a function of: the difference (or the ratio) of the measured engagement amount and a reference engagement amount; and the difference (or the ratio) of the measured output amount and the reference output amount. The order of dispensation from the upstream controlled units are determined in accordance with the priority determined by the evaluation values for the respective work species.

Material flow control device

A consumable electrode type arc welding apparatus in which arcing can be positively started under a variety of welding conditions. A start current detector selects a predetermined limited start current according to the welding conditions. A start current period setting unit sets a start current period, also in accordance with the welding conditions. A start current control circuit supplies the predetermined limited start current to the workpiece and the wire electrode for the predetermined period of time at the start of arcing.

A wire heating torch is mounted closely parallel to a TIG torch 1, and includes a slide base 28 having a vertically adjustable slide shaft 36 disposed therein. A rotatably adjustable slide member 27 is mounted to the lower end of the slide shaft, and carries an angularly disposed guide member 26 for directing the feed of an electrically heated welding wire 5. A conduit cable 44 for the torch includes an electrical power cable 45 and a wire feed liner 60 wrapped by a spring tube 50, both encased within a thermally shrinkable insulating tube 64 to form an integral assembly.

In a pulse welding method, an optimum pulse current waveform defined by the amplitudes of the current pulse and base current and the width of the current pulse is maintained throughout the welding operation while the average welding current is varied by changing the frequency of the current pulse.

Pulse arc welding method

A hot wire type electric arc welding torch includes a wire heating unit which has a first guide hole therein disposed substantially parallel to a welding torch. An insulative guide is connected to the wire feeding unit and supplies a wire to the welding torch at an angle which is inclined relative to the first guide hole. An insulative spacer is disposed in the wire feeding unit, and the insulative spacer has a guide hole therein which forms an angle with the first guide hole for bending the wire. Tapered escape hole portions are formed at wire inlet and outlet sides of the insulative spacer to minimize friction.

Hot wire type electric arc welding torch

A hot-wire arc welding apparatus comprises a non-expendable electrode, means for supplying a current to initiate an arc between the nonexpendable electrode and a workpiece, an arc current control means for controlling the current from the supplying means, a wire feed means for feeding a filler wire into the arc, a wire feed control means for controlling the wire feed means to feed the filler wire at a given rate of feed, a voltage applying means for applying a voltage between the filler wire and the workpiece, a wire voltage control means for controlling the voltage from the voltage applying means, and a reference voltage generator for generating an output voltage which increases gradually or incrementally with time, each of the arc current control means, the wire feed control means, and the wire voltage control means being connected to the reference voltage generator and responsive to the output voltage therefrom for controlling the operation thereof. A delay circuit such as an integrator may be connected between the reference voltage generator and the wire feed control means for applying a delayed output voltage to the latter.

Hot-wire arc welding apparatus

A hot wire welding system including a non-melting metal electrode, a supply of filler metal to be fed to a weld puddle formed by an arc, a D.C. power source for supplying both an arc current and a filler metal heating current, a first control circuit for controlling the filler metal heating current with a constant voltage characteristic, and a second control circuit for controlling the arc current with a constant current characteristic. By eliminating one of the two power supplies which was required in prior art systems, a significant reduction in size and complexity is obtained.

Hot wire welding system

An arc welding apparatus includes means for controllingly supplying an output current to an arc-producing electrode, an output current setting unit for controlling the supplying means, means for feeding a filler wire, and means for applying voltage to the filler wire. A first function generator is connected between the output current setting unit and the feeding means for producing an output which is a function of an output current setting and which is delivered to the feeding means to control the rate at which the filler wire is fed. A second function generator is connected between the first function generator and the applying means for producing an output which is a function of the output from the first function generator and which is fed to the applying means to control the voltage applied to the filler wire. The second function generator may be connected between the output current setting unit and the applying means for issuing an output which is a function of the output current setting to the applying means to control the voltage applied to the filler wire. Therefore, the output current, the rate of feed of the filler wire, and the wire voltage can be adjusted solely by the output current setting unit.
