An endoscope hood having excellent antifogging properties and antifouling properties. The endoscope hood is configured to be mounted on an insertion side end of an endoscope. The endoscope hood comprises a cylindrical exterior portion and a disc portion provided in contact with an inner surface of the exterior portion. The exterior portion and the disc portion are formed integrally or separately. At least the disc portion is made of a hydrogel.

Ocular lenses having UV absorbing properties are disclosed. The ocular lens comprises a hydrogel polymer comprising polymerised residues derived from a polymerisable UV absorber of formula (I):U-L-Py  (I)wherein: U is a UV absorbing moiety; L is a hydrophilic non-polyalkylene glycol linker comprising an anionic, a zwitterionic or a saccharide moiety; and Py is an ethylenically unsaturated polymerisable moiety.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a polymer gel that can increase drug content ratio and reduce undesirable influence on gel strength and shape stability after the drug release, compared with the conventional techniques. The purpose can be achieved by an anionic drug-containing medical device comprising: (1) an anionic drug; and (2) a copolymer which contains, as constituents, a cationic monomer comprising a condensation product of an alkyl quaternary ammonium compound having a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group and (meth)acrylic acid or a salt of the condensation product and a monomer capable of copolymerizing with the condensation product or the salt of the condensation product.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a functional polymer gel which is able to be practically used as an ocular lens having excellent transparency and mechanical strength by uniformly dispersing organic nanotubes in a polymer gel without the formation of agglomerates of the organic nanotubes in the case where the organic nanotubes are complexed into the polymer gel; and a method for producing this functional polymer gel. The above-mentioned purpose is achieved by: a functional polymer gel which is characterized by containing organic nanotubes and having a light transmittance of 80% or more; and a method for producing this functional polymer gel.

A spent fuel storage rack that accommodates and stores spent fuels in a large number of cells formed in a grid pattern includes a flat rectangular plate-shaped base forming the bottom of the rack, columnar members extending upward from the four corners of the base, and at least a pair of upper and lower grid-shaped frame plates disposed above the base and fixed to and supported by the columnar members. Each of the cells is formed by assembling metal plates to which boron is added to a density greater than 1% into a polygonal tube, and the cells are arranged contiguously at fixed intervals in the grid-shaped frame plates.

Also disclosed is a method for producing the hydrogel contact lens. The wettable hydrogel contact lens is characterized by containing an ionic hydrophilic polymer which is a compound having a hydroxy group and an anionic group. The method for producing a hydrogel contact lens is characterized in that a constituent component of the hydrogel contact lens is a copolymer containing at least a cationic monomer and an anionic monomer, and in that the method comprises a step wherein counter ions of the monomers form ionic bonds and a step wherein an ionic hydrophilic polymer, which is a compound having a hydroxy group and an anionic group, is contained.
