A thermal transfer sheet including a dye layer and a transfer layer on a substrate. The transfer layer has a protective layer and an adhesive layer containing two or more resin components. One of the resin components is a copolymer of a reactive ultraviolet absorbing agent and an acrylic monomer. In the copolymer, the copolymerization ratio of the reactive ultraviolet absorbing agent is in the range of 10% or more and 50% or less on a molar ratio basis and the copolymerization ratio of the acrylic monomers is in the range of 50% or more and 90% or less on a molar ratio basis. The content of the copolymer of the reactive ultraviolet absorbing agent and the acrylic monomer is specified in the range of 50% by mass or more and 90% by mass or less on the basis of the total mass of the adhesive layer.

Disclosed is an ink composition which has superior storage stability, is resistant to bleeding, has good fixability to paper, and enables printing of a clear image. The ink composition includes a pigment dispersion containing a surface-treated pigment and a resin emulsion, wherein the surface-treated pigment is obtained by binding a functional group, having a larger calcium index than a calcium index of 1,2,3-benzenetricarboxylic acid, to the surface of a pigment; and the resin emulsion is adapted so that an aqueous solution containing 1 mass % of a solid content of the resin emulsion has a conductance of 300 &#x3bc;S/cm or less.

Ink composition

An inkjet recording method characterized by adhering a receiving solution (A) to at least areas on a recording medium (R) which are to be printed with an inkjet ink (I) or the whole surface of the medium (R) which is to be printed, said receiving solution (A) being a solution obtained by dissolving (inclusive of dispersing) one or more metal salts (S) selected from among at least divalent, calcium salts, magnesium salts, nickel salts, aluminum salts, boron salts, and zinc salts and one or more resins (B) having hydrophilic groups in an aqueous solvent in such amounts that the concentrations of the metal salts (S) and the resins (B) fall within the range of 0.005 to 2.0 mol/l and within the range of 0.5 to 20 mass % respectively, and then applying the inkjet ink (1) to areas where the metal salts are present in an adhered state to carry out printing. Said inkjet ink (I) is an ink which has a pigment (P), an anionic resin emulsion (E), and an aqueous solvent, and in which phosphorus-containing groups each having at least one P&#x2014;O or P&#x2550;O bond are bonded to the surface of the pigment (P) or the surface of the anionic resin emulsion (E).
