An N-substituted triazole compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein Ph is a phenyl group or a phenyl group substituted with one or two halogen atoms, R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group, R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group, R.sup.3 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl group, a C.sub.4 -C.sub.8 cycloalkylalkyl group or a C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl group and n is 0, 1 or 2, or an acid addition salt thereof, which is useful as an antifungal agent.

A cephem derivative represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or methyl, R.sup.2 represents carboxyl or esterified carboxyl, and n represents 0 or 1, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; intermediates for the cephem derivative or salt thereof; processes for producing these compounds; and a pharmaceutical composition and method for preventing or treating bacterial infectious diseases, wherein the cephem derivative or the salt thereof is used.

Cephem derivatives

A cephem compound represent by the general formula ##STR1## wherein, R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are the same or different and each represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sup.4 represents carboxyl or esterified carboxyl, and n represents 0 or 1, a salt of the cephem compound, and a process for producing the cephem compound or a salt thereof. Compounds of the above formula and salts thereof are valuable as antibacterial agents and are especially useful as oral drugs in the prevention or treatment of bacterial infectious diseases.

Cephem compounds

An imidazolylcarboxylic acid compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein Ph is a phenyl group or a phenyl group substituted with one or two halogen atoms, R is a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl group and n is an integer of 1 to 8, which is useful as an antifungal agent.

Antifungal imidazolylcarboxylic acids and their derivatives

Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl group, X is a straight or branched chain C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylene group and R.sub.2 is a carboxyl group or a sulfo group; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof exhibit strong inhibitory activities against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Psendomonas aeruginosa, indolepositive Proteus and Enterobacter aerogenes, and also have an increased and prolonged serum level in a living body. The compounds are therefore useful as antibacterial agents for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein Ar is a phenyl group substituted with halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylsulfonyl, nitro, trihalomethyl, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylamino, di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.8)-alkylamino, amino, hydroxyl, phenyl and/or phenoxy, a naphthyl group or a thienyl group optionally substituted with halogen, which is useful as an antifungal agent.

An N-substituted imidazole compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R and R' are independently a phenyl group optionally substituted with one or more halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylthio, phenyl, phenoxy, phenylthio, hydroxyl, trifluoromethyl, amino, carbamoyl, di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.8) alkylamino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkanoylamino, nitro, cyano, carboxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylsulfonyloxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkanoylpiperazino groups; a C.sub.1 -C.sub.15 alkyl group or a phenyl (C.sub.1 -C.sub.2) alkyl group optionally bearing halogen on the benzene ring, and its acid-addition salts, which is useful as an antifungal agent.
