A car and a counterweight are suspended by a main rope that is wound onto a driving sheave, a car suspending sheave, and a counterweight suspending sheave. A first main rope portion between the driving sheave and the car suspending sheave and a second main rope portion between the car suspending sheave and the car-side rope fastener portion are passed through a common car-side penetrating aperture so as to cross each other when viewed in an axial direction of the driving sheave. A third main rope portion between the driving sheave and the counterweight suspending sheave and a fourth main rope portion the counterweight suspending sheave and the counterweight-side rope fastener portion are passed through a common counterweight-side penetrating aperture that is disposed on the machine room floor so as to cross each other when viewed in the axial direction of the driving sheave.

Elevator and elevator refurbishing method

A toothed belt transmission is provided in which a toothed belt is trained around drive and driven pulleys. Each toothed pulley has a circumferential periphery formed with a plurality of teeth. Adjacent teeth are assigned as a first tooth portion and a second tooth portion. Respective tooth portions have arcuate portions at corners defined between tooth edges and tooth surfaces. A line touching the arcuate portions of the first and second tooth portions is assigned as a common tangential line. A line passing over a starting point of the arcuate portion of the tooth edge of the first tooth is assigned as a first tangential line. An angle between the common tangential line and the first tangential line falls in a range between 6&#xb0; and 14.4&#xb0;.

Toothed belt transmission

A crankcase is coupled to a lower end face of a cylinder block of an engine and includes first and second case halves coupled to each other in a plane perpendicular to joint surfaces of the cylinder block and the crankcase. A U-shaped seal groove is defined in one of the joint surfaces of the case halves. Enlarged recesses are made at opposite ends of the seal groove. A bar-shaped seal member having enlarged end portions formed at opposite ends thereof is mounted in the groove such that the enlarged end portions are filled in the enlarged recesses. Thus, it is possible to ensure accuracy of the positioning of the bar-shaped seal member without the need for a high level skill; thereby, reliably sealing portions of intersection between the joint surfaces of the cylinder block and the crankcase and the joint surfaces of the case halves of the crankcase.

Seal structure in engine body

In a camera system according to the invention, a camera body and an interchangeable lens have respective identification data tables that are congruous with each other. As an appropriate data address is indicated to the interchangeable lens by the camera body, an identification data that is stored in the identification data storage section and corresponds to the indicated address is transmitted from the interchangeable lens to the camera body. The identification data judging section of the camera body compares the identification data transmitted back from the interchangeable lens and the identification data that is stored in the identification data storage section and corresponds to the address. As a result, it is determined if the dedicated accessory device is mounted on the camera body or not.

In a handheld type four-cycle engine, a valve operation mechanism includes a camshaft rotatably supported in a cylinder head so as to open and close an intake valve and an exhaust valve and a timing transmission placed on one side outside an engine main body and providing association between a crankshaft and the camshaft, and a centrifugal clutch for power output is mounted on the crankshaft on the opposite side outside the engine main body. The timing transmission and the centrifugal clutch being positioned at the two ends of the crankshaft improves the weight balance, the centre of gravity of the engine can be made as close to the central part of the crankshaft as possible, which, together with the reduced weight, can enhance the operability of the engine.

Handheld type four-cycle engine

In a working engine including a bearing mounted on an outer wall of a crankcase for carrying a crankshaft, an oil seal mounted on the outer wall of a crankcase and disposed outside and adjacent the bearing, and a cooling fan which is attached to an outer end of the crankshaft adjacent the oil seal with its blades turned toward the crankcase and which has blades protruding toward the crankcase, a cylindrical protective tube is formed on an outer sidewall of the crankcase to cover ends of bosses of the cooling fan, and a foreign matter-beating piece is formed on the cooling fan in proximity to an outer peripheral surface of the protective tube. Thus, even if a long foreign matter drawn in by the cooling fan such as a weed and the like has been entangled around the crankshaft, it can be beaten and loosened, or cut by the foreign matter-beating piece rotated along with the cooling fan. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the entanglement around the foreign matter around the crankshaft, thereby avoiding damage to the oil seal as a result of the entanglement.

An engine head cover structure has a head cover joined to the upper end of a cylinder head so as to define a valve operation chamber therebetween. The head cover includes therein an oil recovery chamber to which oil resided in the valve operation chamber is recovered by suction and a breather chamber that removes blowby gas from the valve operation chamber being provided in the head cover. The breather chamber is defined between a partition plate mounted on an inner wall of the head cover via clips and a surface of the roof of the head cover, and the oil recovery chamber is defined between the partition plate and a partition body welded thereto. It is thus possible to form the oil recovery chamber and the breather chamber without splitting the roof of the head cover, thereby making inspection of the joint for oil tightness unnecessary.

Engine head cover structure

A seal structure in an engine, including a seal member interposed between a cylinder head having a slanting face portion at least at an intermediate portion of its upper end face to which a valve-operating cam chamber opens, and a head cover coupled to the upper end face of the cylinder head by a bolt to close the valve-operating cam chamber. The head cover has a fit wall portion formed thereon and fitted to an inner peripheral surface of the valve-operating cam chamber, and the seal member is mounted in a seal groove provided in an outer peripheral surface of the fit wall portion to come into close contact with an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder head. Thus, an interference can be provided equally at various portions of the seal member irrespective of the number of bolts used, and the seal member can always exhibit a good seal function.

Seal structure between cylinder head and head cover in engine

In a valve-operating mechanism in a 4-cycle engine, a timing transmitting device is disposed on one side of an engine body. A cam device includes a cam coupled to a driven pulley of the timing transmitting device on one side of a cylinder head, intake and exhaust rocker shafts rotatably carried in the cylinder head, intake and exhaust cam followers secured to one ends of the rocker shafts with their tip ends in sliding contact with the cam, and intake and exhaust rocker arms secured to the other ends of the intake and exhaust rocker shafts with their tip ends abutting against the intake and exhaust valves. Thus, the cam of the cam device can be disposed on one side of the cylinder head to effectively reduce the entire height of the engine.

Valve-operating mechanism in 4-cycle engine

A 4-cycle engine includes an oil tank mounted to one side of an engine body, and an oil slinger accommodated in the oil tank and adapted to scatter an oil stored in said oil tank to generate a lubricating oil mist. In the 4-cycle engine, a timing transmitting case is interposed between the engine body and the oil tank, so that heat transmission from the engine body to the oil tank is shielded. Thus, the oil tank can be disposed at a location spaced apart from the engine body without bringing about an increase in size of the engine, thereby suppressing the heat transmission from the engine body to the oil tank to the utmost to prevent overheating of the oil in the oil tank.

4-cycle engine

In a handheld type OHV engine, an oil tank is provided so as to be connected to one side wall running the length of a crankcase and a cylinder block, the oil tank houses oil mist generation means to and a rotational movement section of a valve operation mechanism, and the oil mist generated in the oil tank is supplied from a crank chamber to a valve operation chamber of a cylinder head housing a reciprocating movement section of the valve operation mechanism, and is returned to the oil tank by utilizing the pressure pulsations of the crank chamber and a one-way valve. It is thus possible to lubricate the inside of the crank chamber and the valve operation mechanism reliably regardless of the operational position of the handheld type OHV engine while reducing the overall height of the engine.

In a handheld type four-cycle engine, the lubricating system includes an oil tank placed outside an engine main body, a through hole providing communication between the oil tank and a crank chamber, an oil feed pipe placed outside the engine main body and providing communication between the crank chamber and a valve operation chamber of a cylinder head, an oil return pipe placed outside the engine main body and providing communication between the valve operation chamber and the oil tank, and a one-way valve for transferring oil from the crank chamber to the valve operation chamber side via the oil feed pipe. The side walls of the engine main body can thus be made thinner and the weight of the engine main body can therefore be reduced regardless of the presence of the oil feed pipe and the oil return pipe.
